[quote=cuffedlinks]Shammers is right...the few hours for 300.00 isn't really worth the $$...Save it as a starter fund for the next trip or buy yourself "sumpin' purty"...
I thought we were talking 150

it is 150 total, but that doesn't include taxes and then I would be charged some fee for switching. I don't know what the fee is but I think its around 50, so it would probably be closer to 300 after all is said and done. One thing I was wondering though, when I did purchase the tickets, I didn't get trip insurance. Does anyone know if this is something that I should get? This may be a stupid question, but I have never even been out of the country before so I really don't know about these things.

Without knowing exactly what airline you are speaking of, I can only say that the fee to revise an already ticketed plane ticket should be anywhere from $100-$150 per person. Some of the low cost carriers may charge a little less, but the biggies usually charge a standard $100-$150/pp. That would be payable IN ADDITION to whatever the cost of the new flights are. If the new flights cost more, you'd have to pay that difference too. If they cost less, they'd subtract that from your revision fee.
Again, for just a few hours difference, not worth it if ya ask me. As far as insurance....touchy subject. You have believers and non believers. My job is to tell folks what the benefits and drawbacks are and I won't do that here because all insurance policies are different and it just depends on what company you go with as far as their particular rules and regulations. When you do a package, you can get insurance through the vacation company and that has to be done at the time of deposit. When you don't or if you didn't take it when you booked the package, you can get it from an outside provider but there are more restrictions as to the reasons why you can cancel. Put it this way, you are going during hurricane season so it wouldn't have been a bad idea to grab it from the start. Whether it makes sense to do it now, I really can't say since I don't know the specifics of how you booked your trip. |

Thanks for all the help. I booked my stay through a palace member. I think that I am going to look into costs of insurance. If something happens, I can't imagine not having insurance.
If that's how much it costs to switch flights, there is no way in hell I will. Again thanks for the help. - Bethany |
