why this stupid rule at Ib resorts

Why have they introduced this rule that no outside photographers are allowed anymore.

It doesn't make sense nobody wants crappy pictures of their wedding!

What makes you think that the photographer(s) that the IB*'s are now using are crappy in the first place?
Have you seen any examples of their work? Have you heard any recent complaints? I doubt a reputable chain like the IB*'s would have a less than qualified photographer handling their weddings.

Since the rule IS that they will not allow outside photographers, I think you should first check out any recent wedding pictures and if you don't like them, then start looking for a new resort that will allow outside photographers.

Or....you can do as some other brides have done....

Hire Claudia and have her take pictures OFF the property (on the beach in Playa perhaps) before the actual wedding ceremony. I had a bride do exactly this and she loved her pics.

Not the best suggestion but if this is causing you too much worry, it could be the answer.

I havent seen any examples but some have commented on the poor quality and the fact the the photographer is loseing business.

At the end of the day who wants pictures of one of the most memorable day of your life turning out awfull. I think any future bride would feel as i do, concerned. Its the same when you're chooseing a holiday, you read comments if they are poor then your natural instinct is not to go there. I wont change destination and if i feel the quality is not good then i will go to plan b.

I do take your point though that i have not seen any work and I may just get claudia to take pics- but is she allowed onto the beach and wouldn't she need access through the hotel?

Here's an advantage to using "in house" photographers. They know the lay of the land. They'll have insight into the property, lighting, best locations, etc.

Like Shammy said, I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that thier in house photographers are crappy either. Just think, it's one less vendor that you're going to constantly have to keep under your thumb and micro manage.

Ok crappy was not the best term to use- i picked it up from anothers opinion and was in such a rush when writing this post. Out of interest my question was also, why have they introduced this rule?

When i see the examples i shall judge for myself.

The less you go else where to shop the more money they make...the almighty dollar or peso I would guess.

Good luck! I'd be interested in seeing any pictures you find.

No, she wouldn't be allowed on the grounds of the hotel. But I handled a wedding where the bride was in the same situation as you and she had all her pre wedding photos taken OFF the resort grounds on a beach nearby. They made arramgents to meet up at a certain spot, Claudia took the photos (of course, not of the actual ceremony) and then they went back to the hotel and got married. The hotel photographer took the ones of the ceremony and they also turned out very nice but she was glad she had some very special ones done by Claudia.

Here's an option I read about on Tripadvisor. Someone on that board hired a local photographer whose work she liked and bought him a day pass to the resort. She represented him to Iberostar as a member of the wedding party who happened to be staying elsewhere. Apparently this worked out well for her.

Hi Lisa

I believe the photographer rents space from the Iberostar.
I also believe that the photographer only has a few years experience.
I can understand how you are feeling Lisa. I know I wouldn't be happy.
I think the pics are ok, in my opinion. It is so frustrating..............................
You could show him/her what type of pics you would like doing (eg)
poses, location ...etc.
