Beach Clubs Worth It? How?

I've made reservations at the Grand Xcaret for our family vacation at the end of June (thanks Shammy for your help -above and beyond!). I am aware the OGX doesn't have a real beach, and I just read on another site something about "beach clubs" in PDC. What are these, are they worth it, and how do youo get there and rent cahirs and palapas?

I believe there are only two beach clubs IN Playa, Mamitas and Tukan. They are right next door to each other. I've only been to Mamitas but it's all I need! It's on the north end of Playa, calle 26 I think, and any taxi should be able to get you there and if one's not waiting when you're ready to leave they'll call one for you. Don't know how much it would cost from Xaret.

Just walk up on the beach and there are a couple of guys just walking around who do nothing but set up chairs and palapas for you. I think it's still something like 6 bucks a day for 2 chairs and a palapa. They'll bring you drinks and food on the beach or you can go to the covered patio or bar. Prices are pretty reasonable and they have a full bar and nice menu with everything from burgers, clubs, tortilla soup , seafood, fresh fruit you name it! I think they also serve breakfast. They have a small kiddie pool (although not many kids) and a massage therapist, Javier. Mostly European meaning mostly topless so if that's an issue... It's very obvious that we're American 'cuz we're always in a one piece and covered, but that's OK. They close around 5 or 6.

The food is wonderful, the bathrooms are very clean, it's relatively quiet (no loud music, few kids etc.) and it's the best stretch of beach in Playa. We always stay in town and my one requirement is that the hotel provide free or at least discount rentals at Mamitas! That's how much I love it there.

I've read and heard about another club close to Tulum called El Paradiso, but I've not been there yet. Want to check it out next trip. That may be closer to where you are staying.

Long winded I know, but you get me talking about my favorite places and I can't stop! See?!...
