Travel with baby?
My wife and I go to PDC once or twice a year - usually staying at Hotel plaza or Colibri on 10th. This year we have decided to complicate things. We have talked my parents, sister, brother in-law and 2 nephews into coming with us. We also added a new baby boy to the family 9 months ago. It used to be that all we needed were 2 backpacks, diving gear and plane tickets - we would just wander around until we found a hotel, etc. Baby adds a whole lot more into the mix. Unfortunately we will be staying at the Mayan Palace this year. My brother in law agreed to go if we would stay there. I have a couple of baby related questions and any help would be greatly appreciated.
1. Baby food - We really don't want to cart 10 days of baby food from Ohio. Anyone know if Sam's or Chedraui has a consistent supply of jar baby food- pref. Gerber. 2. we usually take a collectivo from the airport to PDC and then the bus from PDC to airport, Most of the collectivos that we have been in don't have seat belts for the car seat. We would be more comfortable with the bus. Where exactly do we get bus tickets at the airport? My only airport frame of reference is where the busses drop you off at the airport and the exit where you find the shared vans. Will the bus even drop off at Mayan Palace? 3. We want to spend as little time at the Mayan palace a possible. We have a car for 5 people and that will work for most of the day trips and diving. But, we are wondering what is the most economical way to get back and forth between PDC and mayan palace if the entire family (6 adults and 3 kids) wants to go to PDC. 4. Any baby tips for us new traveling parents? Many thanks for any info you can provide. Darren Wahoo! ony 2 weeks to go!!! |

Do you travel with you car seat? If so I would do the private transpo from this site...It is well worht the money and very fast!!! If you have a car seat you can use it in the van if not send Heather a PM and they may be able to provide one for a small fee...

1: search baby food (yes, this question has been asked already
)2: a private van service will save your group money and time (it's less than the colectivo ) and we can provide a child car seat (the colectivos won't) Just fill out the form on the trip planning section for transport.3: I don't know what transport MP offers. Hopefully they have shuttles. 4: Our daughter Elsa will be 9 months old on the 14th, lives here pretty happily, doesn't mind the heat (she gets alot of shade), likes the pool and strolling 5th. Have fun! |

I did a search for baby food and found 74 threads dealing with the issue. Happy hunting!!
There is a place to buy bus tickets on your right before you exit the terminal. If you miss, it you can buy them at the bus. The busses are at the far south end of the main terminal. As you walk out of the terminal, turn right, and keep walking until you see them. And I have been on the bus when it has stopped on the highway in front of the Mayan Palace - just ask. I don't know how you then get from there into the actual resort. |

We took my 14 month old niece (Maya
) last year and had a blast. The one thing I would suggest is that you take your own crib sheets. I don't know if it was the sheet itself or what it was washed in etc, but my niece had a nasty rash on her face the first couple of nights. We ditched the sheets and used a blanket from home to cover the bottom and her rash went away. Also a stroller with a canopy. We actually ducktaped an umbrella to ours but... whatever! Have a great time!
