He said he's good friends with the owner, said he's the manager and was gonna probably move and start up another location (hence me remembering something about franchising, etc.) He really liked to talk lots. I just wanted to dig into my food but he liked the audience. Nice guy though. Mid 40's, average build, short-short hair.

Forgot exactly where he's from but I can tell you this, he's whiter than I am. A real gringo. Somewhere midwest.

HC de Monterrey. Promise same place. When you walk in... look to the table on the left. You will see on the wall " besos to Playa from Debbielasvegas" kathy.web is my witness.. her and Danny ate there the day after I was there. maybe she met the mystery gringo too... hmmm.. this is getting interesting. Maybe we should have a local do a drive by and check it out.
Well, I certianly don't doubt you... Its just weird! I've been there probably... 15 or 20 times or so, and NEVER seen an American or a Candian working there!

Interestingly enough, Stewart, he doesn't know you either - we asked! Yes, the manager there IS Canadian and a good guy... always chats us up when we're there... has told us that you can get the equivalent of Philly cheese steaks made with their arrachera at the Turtle Bay Bakery in Akumal, and let us know that other HC branches will be opening up shortly. Guess you just need to go back more!

Holy cow, that is weird!!!

The guy that I THOUGHT was the manager was the guy who looks a little bit by Edward James Olmos... The older guy who is always behind the counter...

Well that's wild! After all the times I've eaten there! I hope I get to meet the REAL manager so I can get credit for all the business I've sent them!!!

Um... no. He's a bit stocky, 5'9"?, thinning grey-brown hair, and probably mid-50s, I'd guess.

He has been there every time we have eaten there. He is the man that came out to the table and visited with me. I had printed off of this website a description of what Stewart said to order (The aracherra steak). He took my piece of paper back to the kitchen to show the hired help they were famous, and advertised on the internet.

Just got back from Playa and the Canadian guy from HC is married to Mayte, who works in the reception of Playa Maya (a really sweet girl). We were just talking to her casually about eating there and she offered up that info!!

AND it WAS a really great meal!!!

Walk down 10th street past Juarez (south) toward Playacar. Turn right on 1st street for 4 or 5 blocks until you see it on your left. Based on the neighborhood and other business on the street you will wonder if this is the correct way, but keep walking anyway. It will be on your left. Worst case scenario is grab a cab. You can always walk back.

Oops. Maybe I'm confused. Is it Avenida 20 and 25 and Calle 1? I guess I thought Avenida 1 and Calle 20 and 25, but there is no such thing.
Sorry

Don't know why Steve hasn't offered that up. But, when I was chatting with her that we had lunch there, she said her Canadian Husband worked there and brought the food home all the time, so she was sick of it, LOL! We mentioned that we saw him there.

HC de Monterrey is on Calle 1 SUR, between avenidas 20 and 25. When you are heading south on Avenida 10 from Playa Centro, when you cross Juarez, the next street is Calle 1 Sur (it will be on your right). Make a right and walk two blocks. You will see it on your left (south side of street) next door to a bookstore called Que pequeño es el Mundo.
