Hard to pin down that marinade. I've tried a few times, and I've made some decent fajitas, but nothing as tender and flavorful as HC. Of course, I need to be careful not to get TOO close - after all I still need an incentive to travel to Playa! ![]() |

Is the food at the new one on CTM identical to the original location? We're staying at Shangri-La and this seems to be much closer. Thanks! |

We almost missed it!!
We went looking for HC with our tongues hanging out
after all the decriptions of the great meat. We looked...and looked some more...then we looked again and finally figured we'd got the directions mixed up. (This was to their original location) Well, guess what...the sign has disappeared....no sign on the walls either....no walls with writing all over them from happy customers (its all got a fresh coat of paint!) but the directions were dead on. We were standing looking at the place but since there was no sign and it didn't look like the pics we figured it wasn't the right place. Thank goodness we went back for a second try...this time the waiters called out "Hey guys, this is HC de Monteray". We had the Arachera National with the onion and it was super...dinner for 2 with just 1 beer was $21 US and worth twice as much! Stopped yesterday at the food store and bought a bottle of A1 Steak Sauce which we'll be brown bagging when we go back for another "meat fix" in a few days time. Everyone was right...a not to be missed Playa food stop! ![]() |

![]() Glad you enjoyed it though!!! My preparation: I take a tortilla, put some meat inside, a little sliced up avacado, a little grilled onion, squeeze a bit of lime juice on it, and top it with a bit of the crema and bit of the salsa, and then... lather, rinse, repeat! |

Hey, I like my A-1
Ok, ok....I won't drown it in A-1 steak sauce, just a small puddle of sauce to dip the corner of each bite into? Is that ok?
The nite we were there they were picking up the chairs at 7:00pm. We also had a big, black, dirty, dark tinted windowed Suburban pull up at the curb and park. Out came 3 guys and a girl all in bullet proof vests, combat belts and machine guns. They took a table and all had steaks while cradling the machine guns with one hand as they hung from straps over their shoulders.Maybe these were the people to make sure I didn't use A-1 sauce on my steak? ![]() |

I consider it akin to taking foie gras prepared by Alain Ducasse himself, and dipping it in A-1! ![]() |
