I'm getting hungry!
When I was a kid, we had it at just about every family get-together we had in West Texas. Don't find it much here in my area now. Last time I saw it on a menu, I was in a restaurant in Nuevo Laredo about 3 years ago... I enjoyed it as much then as I ever had.

It is always a very popular dish on the border! That is where I've eaten it often as well!

I don't see it much around Playa. Anywhere, in fact, now that I think about it...

Has anyone seen cabrito around town?

My brother in law has a couple of goats. I don't guess he would miss one of them.

I'll try to get it on the plane tomorrow. Where do I need to drop it off?

Naturally we had to go to HC's (the new location on Constituentes opposite Mega) the other night for a fixin' of national arrachera and as usual we were not disappointed Delicious, juicy, tender, and no sharesies of the kids plates anymore - they want the whole thing to themselves now! What I was surprised about and thought was worth mentioning here is that they now offer postres (dessert....OK maybe they always did, but we've never had it and in the old location for sure we were never offered it as they hussled you thru asap with a constant queue waiting for your table).

I (Mrs BF) LOVE dessert and find in general that its not overly easy to find a good dessert in PDC altho we have often made it our mission to determine where to find the best flan! HC offers 3 desserts..... flan, pie de limon and cheesecake. We had the flan and pie de limon and honestly I could go there just for dessert now! The flan was one of the better ones around and the pie de limon was delicious. Creamy, almost cheesecakey like, lemony on a bed of crumbs like a cheesecake. Pleasingly surprising - HC just gets better and better

Order the "plato arracharra." Its served with a large portion of some of the BEST meat Ive EVER eaten, with a bbq onion in tin foil, half an avacado, half a lime, some smokey red salsa and some garlic mayonaise. Oh, and a big stack of tortillas.

If youre wanting to get it to go... There is a nice tortilla factory RIGHT across the street.

I will update when I return, but so far this is my best meal in Playa and some of the best meat Ive ever had.

(Thank you god, for giving me a mouth!)
When Stewart makes a recommendation, it's always good!!!

Things have changed since Stew's original post
That location is now CH Carne
Same meat, tho.
HC has two "new" locations in town now.

Yes, but I'm flattered by Larry's kind words!

Of course, Larry, your sweetheart is my restaurant hero!!!

FWIW, I have not eaten at the original location since it has changed name/ownership.

I did, however, notice the HC location in Tulum this afternoon while driving around running some errands...

Cabrito is a specialty of the Monterrey area, and there are not as many people that had emigrated from those border states (Coahuila, Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipas) to have a big demand in Playa.
