Yes, the Continental is in the process of being renovated and will become a Palace resort - looks like it will really be nice when completed. As of the first week of May, there is no beach - the water comes right up to the wall. The closest beach is either north on the other side of the ferry, or south on the other side of Xman Ha condos.

It is the "soon" part, that is in doubt. I think they missed thier original Christmas Eve grand opening date by 5 months. And I'm not so sure that the May opening date is going to happen. However it does look like the refurb is being done right. They stripped the place back to the concrete and a new lobby as been built at the front. WAY on down there on the list of things you want to place your money on is any construction project in Mexico being finished by any particular deadline, I'd say.
