Flight Costs
I see that SunCountry has came out with prices for March 2006. Minneapolis to Cancun is around $528. Haven't been to Cancun for a few years. Is this really high or does it seem reasonable? When is the best time to lock in a seat?

I just paid $757 on SunCountry for two for 10 days in February and March. We are flying out of Minneapolis - Monday to a Thursday. It was a lot more yesterday, so when the price was lowered today, I decided I better grab it. I've never paid less to Cancun.

I just booked our holidaze 2005/2006 flights tonight. Direct non-stop flights Charlotte, NC to Cancun, MX on US Airways. Cost $296 + taxes/fees = Total $383.29/pp. That's the cheapest we've ever paid for holidaze travel to Playa... lowest we've ever paid in the past was $479/pp and highest $622/pp. I'm very surprised that the rates are so low considering the cost of fuel these days... but I'm certainly not complaining.

Thanks to all of you for all of the comments. I think I am going to hold off a while. Usually from Minnesota SunCountry is the best deal. We aren't flexible on the day we leave, have to go Sunday to Sunday unfortunately. I also watch TGVacations and WorryFreeVacations but they are normally more expensive.

Gutzy,
About a week and a half a go American Airlines had flights for $298 from Minneapolis to Cancun for February and early March. That price was only available for about a half a day. We booked our February tickets then and glad we did. It's not a nonstop flight , but for that price it is worth it to me. I check the rates twice a day as I am still looking for a good price for tickets later in March. You might want to check here as another source. Denisea listed that flight search tool a while back. I like it as it allows you to really pin point the flight times you need. Last edited by cazador; 06-08-2005 at 10:09 AM.. |

I use a site called ITA Software to check fares... you can't book through them, however, it will show all the flights available. It provides a flexible search (+/- previous/next day and nearby airports), weekend search and month search for international flights... which none of the other sites like Orbitz offer. (Actually, it's the same software that Orbitz uses). It also provides all the details for how to purchase the flights so you or your travel agent can locate the same deal. If you want to check it out --- click here. |
