ASP What not to miss
I leave for ASP in one month, sooooooo excited
We will be there for seven nights and I have never been to mexico, or even out of the country for that matter. Since I know our time is limited, what are the things that I cannot miss out on. I'm not big on tours, but I would like to see the area. I've been researching and this is the ideas I have so far xel ha xcaret playa del carmen in the evenings day at xpuha palace cozumel exploring cenotes tulum catamaran trip Dolphin Discovery I'm just not sure how to decide to spend our time. If something is really neat that I shouldn't miss out on, I want to know about it. Any help is greatly appreciated, I also appreciate this website, soooo much neat info. |

You say you're not big on tours, but I would highly recommend any of Anna & James' tours. We took the Tulum tour last year & if it fits our schedule we'll probably take the Sea to Cenotes tour this year. The tour group is very small & it's a great way to spend a day exploring the area. We had a blast. That's my two cents on what not to miss. We also stayed at ASP 2 yrs ago and loved it. Have a great time!

We've been there two years in a row now and the only time we left the resort was to go into PDC! |

We did Janes' & Anna's Tulum tour with lunch & snorkeling in the cenotes. A definate high point. I also love Xcaret. Pick either Xcaret or Xel-Ha - not both. There are a lot of similarities between them.
In one week, I usually pick 2 outings & one excursion into town. The rest of the time I enjoy the resort. Seems to work out for us - a little fun & a little R&R. |

I'd do playa in the daytime first as if you get turned around in the wrong area you could get some place you don't want to be..... xpu ha/tulum is a good day. If you have never gone expect to be really tired when you get back trying to fit it all in. Then, you'll plan the next one to relax at the resort and do a couple of things..... that is my experience and plan...... next March here we come.

We spent a day at Xcaret. We loved it. Dropped a lot of money there. Not a cheap way to spend a day...but it was worth the money. We had a GREAT lunch (including tip about $80 US, we NEVER spend that way at home) at the Peninsula Restaurant at Xcaret. YUM. We really enjoyed watching the others swim with the dolphins, alas...I just couldnt justify the amount of money for our family.
We LOVED floating the "underground river". The temperature of the water was wonderful. It's a beautiful park. |

Thanks to all for the help, I think I've got it figured out
at least 3 full days at the resort just relaxing 1 day at xel ha going the all inclusive route 1 day at tulum and/ or xpu ha palace 1 day and/ or evening in Playa and at some point we will head over to Dolphin discovery in P.A. & maybe that same day check out some Cenotes. that = seven days, and thats all we have. Now I just have to count the days till we are on that plane. This forum is great, lots of reviews, pics, and info. I especcially like the beach web cam. |
