You could give these people everything anyone would want and they would complain and demand more from hotel staff, restaurants etc. It is embarrasing.
Looks like you answered your own question, go without them. It's a vacation not a whine fest. I would rather stand in a downpour during a category 3 hurricane than put up with whiney travel companions.
But then that's just me & my humble opinion

Well, I think the leave the demanding whiners at home wins! I was so bummed when they started " I forgot I was going in December, so we can't go in January"
BUT after reading all the enlightened posts I laughed a lot and think a vacation without trying to apologize to waiters, hotel staff and everyone in between is worth more than going when it is a little nicer.

Heck, I even learned I may be related to others because of the demanding whiners apparently are everywhere!!!!

Hope to see everyone who will be down there somewhere and I will be the RELAXED one!

Thanks everyone

They're everywhere, they're everywhere---I spent 6 months on this board learning everything I could so that our trip would be as un-problematic as possible.Everything went without a hitch--- or so I thought. I got home only to find out that 3 of the people I was playing guide to had a terrible trip, it was too hot, the food was bad, they didn't know how to snorlkel, & blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah good thing is they said they'd never go with our group again & I made them promise in writing. Problem solved----for now

Been there, done that. The important thing is did you manage to have a good time? If you did, who cares about the whiners... next time maybe they'll do their own planning... but then again, probably not because if they did they wouldn't be able to complain about it.

Had a great time; met some nice folks, dove with the turtles, caught a couple fish, saw some Mexican history. Life is good & you're right they would be incapable to plan their own trip cuzz hey wouldn't have anyone to blame but themselves when a minor problem arose.

This is why I prefer the wife and I go on trips by ourselves. I HATE having to change our schedule because someone else can't make up their mind!

We choose September for a few reasons

-Kids all back to school
-cheapest time of year to go, according to my travel agent books anyway
-our wedding anniversary is in September
-from what I gather, the volume of people is less than 1/2 as it would be Jan-April.
-my employees don't go anywhere in September, so I have a full crew when I'm gone.

My travel books show 2 weeks in September is just a fraction more expensive than 1 week would be in Jan-April. Makes great $$$ sense to me.
