What's happening across the highway from Sam's?

I know they are building a shopping center across the highway from Sam's Club but does any one know what stores are going to be there?

I know that there will be a Soriana. It will be a welcome addition to the area. Maybe we will even see some vegetables that don't look like they were shipped via Jet Ski.

Yes, a Soriana as well as a cinema are supposed to be there.

if only the highway access had been designed by someone that had designed a highway (or even driven a car) before

Yes.. trying to get there requires going all the way to the turn around. They could put in a left turn but it will require another traffic signal..after they make a cut through the highway. I have a feeling there will be several more stiop signals on the highways in the nest few years.

It would be a right as you head towards Tulum. I imagine they will put in another traffic light soon.

The two stoplights they have already added on the highway, along with the topes, has added about 10 more minutes to the commute to Cancun. However, with the new stores coming in, that commute won't be as necessary.

No kidding! We especially loved the roundy-turnaround that you have to take to get to Sam's Club from the highway, you know how you have to actually head towards Tulum, PASS Sam's, and then you go veer left around the really dangerous O and then have to navigate over a couple lanes of traffic., then come BACK north....fun stuff!

Yeah.. that's what I was talking about.. they need a left turn entrance from the highway...with a traffic signal, of course.

Absolutely need multiple traffic signals there. The glorieta where you double back to catch the second (farthest south) entrance to Playacar is really bad, now, just as the one north of Constituyentes. They need to get going on that sort of thing before people die in avoidable accidents.

Billboards are also announcing the coming presence of The City Club in that new shopping area, which I guess is the same people who operate a club under that name in Cancun.

Now, now -- keep in mind that this isn't even on the beach side of the highway, much less on 5th, before you start saying that the Playa sky is falling...

I started noticing their little logo-ed vehicles around town months ago.

Hmmm... so I'm supposed to drive to the mall to go drink beer inside a huge disco? I'll be at La Ranita instead.

I saw the billboard for the City Club today. It advertises that they carry everything from clothes to TVs. I don't think it is the disco from Cancun (Cities). Maybe it is a Sam's Club clone.
