Where should I start my great caipirinha search?

I read all about the great Mojito search and was thinking that I should do a search for the best caipirinhas. I fell in love with them when I was there in Feb. I had one at Tutix, which was so so. I had one at the TB which was pretty good.

Where should I go to find the really good ones, or at least the ones that are going to get me really drunk.

Me too!

Okay I really want to try them on this trip but help me out with the pronounciation. I'll just stick to Mojitos if I can't say it correctly....

Is it "cuy per reen ah"?? with the accent on the third sylable?

that is how i pronounce it. i know that lucia at the beer bucket made me quite a few tasty ones. she is from brazil. i don't think that she works there anymore. at least that is what shawn told me. not sure where she is now. let me know what you "discover" as the best as i will be arriving shortly after you are leaving. thanks in advance.

INGREDIENTS

1 lime quartered

1 tablespoon of sugar

1 shot of cachaça (see below) since most places don't have this, they use a good rum

1/2 Cup of ice cubes with water

PREPARE:

Place the lime and sugar in the bottom of a glass.

Using the handle of a wooden spoon, crush and mash

the limes. Pour the liqueur and ice. Stir well.

Cachaca, also known as Aguardente,

is a spirit distilled from sugarcane.

It is one of the most popular drinks in

Brazil.

So when it is made with rum it is nearly the same as a Mojito minus the mint?

Caipirinha (pronounced kuy-pee-REEN-yah) is a Brazilian cocktail which consists of a lime, a lot of sugar, crushed ice, and several ounces of cachaça (pronounced kah-SHAH-sah), a Brazilian sugarcane brandy. Sometimes vodka or rum is substituted for the cachaça --- with vodka it's called a Caipiroshka and with rum it's called a Caipiríssima. Want to read more about this drink? --- click here.

What's the drink called that is made with lime juice, ice and your favorite beer? The glass is rimmed with salt...I am drawing a total blank. I am wondering if I can make that at home with the Sol's I brought back.

It's called a chelada. A chelada is cerveza that has been poured into a glass with salted rim containing lime juice and ice. Very refreshing on a hot day.

Thanks! It was driving me crazy. If it ever gets hot here I will break out one of my Sol's and try my luck at making one.
