ChicagoGuy's Trip Report May 30th/June 7th (pics added) clean ones!

Well all the vacation laundry is done, the last tablespoon of sand has been emptied from our backpack, I'm sippin a shot of GC Anejo and Im ready to try and remember what happened.

We left Chicago Midway and it was undoubtably the right choice. The new Midway airport was a dream, empty-no lines, we were on the plane in minutes! Landed at 3:30 in Cancun to another empty airport. We cleared customs with no wait, got green lights and met the driver for the van we booked through this site. Made it Aventura Mexicana by 4:30, dropped our stuff in the room and headed down to Posada Freud to collect our Playa Deal Card. I ran into Diesel (cause it was there) and was dissappointed.
We grabbed a slice of pizza and just watched folks walkin along fifth. It sure was great to be back in Playa. After a bite to eat we went back to the Hotel for Happy Hour.

Aventura Mexicana has made a few changes since we were ther last year and it was very nice! We had a great jr. suite on the second floor which was well furnished and big. Kind of an IKEA meets Mexico, contempo-mexo
thing goin on. The staff is fantastic and largly unchanged since last year. I like that, seeing some familiar faces and getting a warm friendly welcome from people with whom you have developed some sort of vacation bond.
AM is a small property 28 rooms and less than half we rented, so plenty of room for privacy yet a little action around the bar at happy hour. The staff takes a personal approach at service, very attentive and they remember every thing you like.

At last our first drink!! Happy Hour was a hoot, had a couple drinks chatted it up with a few guests then up to the jacuzzi. After the jacuzzi and a short nap, we went down to dinner at the hotel restaurant "Jacobi's" the food was great. Couple of drinks then one last jacuzzi before bed.[IMG][/IMG]

and a huge selection!! I found all kinds of stuff

I wish you would have been in PdC with us baby, funny you should mention scandal And Im not talking about the band in the late 80's! I may have to e-mail you with specifics AS WELL AS photos that were deemed to graphic to post!

More to come soon I need to focus on my drink for a minute!

Glad you had a good trip CG...

You were down (in PdC) in June and now back again....Hmmm - maybe this will replace your Jamaica trips?

You were at A.M. last time too if I recall (you finally got a link...) and you and Dane got james to fix a glitch in the search tool or something....

Good first installment. What from your first trip brought you back?
I always say leave something for next time.

what a memory cuff'd! Playa HAS replaced my annual trip to Negril!!
and Dane there is a name I haven't heard in a while.

No real glich in the search-it just didn't include words with fewer than 4 letters, which is smart because you dont want search words like "the" "and" "but". James was nice enough to add a few 3 letter words that helped our search, and according to the PM's I receive, it has helped many others find the info they are looking for. Thanks James

what brought me back? To be perfectly honest, our first trip to PdC was the best vacation we have ever had. Tropical, beautiful, historic mixed with fantastic people from all over the world, outstanding food choices and a night life that rivals most places I've been. To me it is the best of both worlds you can be a total beach bum on an isolated strech of sand during the day and then bust out some new threads and club the night away. I was in Hawaii for 3 years and PdC has the same vibe as some of the places
I lived.

The people we met who are living in Playa had a big influence on our return as well. We took the Tulum tour with James that year and we just loved him, a super guy, later we met Anna (who was VERY pregnant) and just as cool-easy to see why these two are together. Spending time with them and meeting some of thier friends really added something personal to our trip-and made it hard to leave. We are happy to call them friends. I think we were more excited to see them again and met Elsa, than we were to be back in Playa! We also met some people from Zurich last year that we talk to all the time. Playa gave us so much more than we expected!

OK this is turning into 2 trip reports.........I promise I'll get right back to this year's report but I have to go to work, those people won't massage themselves!

I've got some nice pics that I'll post on photobucket ( the ones they will allow )

TR cont.

Tuesday, the first full day, bursting with options. We have breakfast at the hotel before starting that long walk up to Punta Esmeralda ( I think I'm just going to refer to it as Punta E from hear on out-Im tired of writing Esmeralda [IMG][/IMG]

I know she was esmerelda but its close and this way I never forget the name of the beach !

Its a full 1hour walk up the beach north, but what an amazing hike. Kiteborders in the bay, very few people on the beach which stretches
in front of you further than the eye can see. Beautiful! Take water with you or anything else you may want because there will be no place to get supplies that far up. Reef at CoCo beach is the last place to get a drink or snack or massage. Light day on the beach, maybe 4 or 5 others scattered along the sand. Everyone had that look of "are we in the right spot" so no one had felt sure enough to be naked (same thing happened to us when we first visited) they watched eagerly to see if we would blaze the trail. We settled into a nice piece of sand and I took my trunks off.
You would've thought I fired a starters pistol! within seconds everyone else is in the buff ( you could almost hear a collective sigh of relief) kinda funny
everyone was willing to be naked...just not the First one to be. We are chillin in the breeze just enjoying the sun, as I glance over I notice the couple next to us seems really excited to be naked on the beach, really really excited. At first I thought they were trying to fashion some sort of human sundial- so they could tell what time it was, I was wrong really really wrong, and we can just leave it at that. The rest of the day on the beach was G-rated, perfect water and weather! Man you don't realize how much you miss it till you take that first plunge into that crystal clear water! We walked back home along the beach then grabbed some burgers on 5th and 26th I think its called superburger. Not bad and really cheap.

Back to the hotel to shower before Happy Hour. I was just gettin out of the shower when the front desk calls to say we have a visitors. YEAH! its Anna and Elsa! WOW she's a beauty, and Elsa was just as beautiful !
OK this is areally shitty pic of me but A GREAT shot of the girls!

We had a wonderful visit and made plans to get together later in the week for a BBQ with the happy family. Now it really feels like we are back in PdC. A and E head home and Dan and I head out for food. I spent hours making a map of places that were on the deal card so I was the man with the plan. Longstory short I misread my own map and we can't find Kubuki
no prob always have a plan B--Babe's it is! Those crab spring rolls were the best I've had! The rest of the meal was fine but I didn't love it as much as I had anticipated, but thats just me, we have Thai often in Chicago and there are some really outstanding offerings here so I'm not the best judge of Babe's. Before anyone freaks out let me add I DO RECOMMEND BABE'S!
If you go there you will have a GREAT MEAL and you will enjoy it. Maybe I had my sights set to high based on so many rave reviews.

So one last time, Babe's good, just not MY favorite.

After a lovley meal we went to Deseo for a drink and to people watch. I like that bar for its concept but it can get expensive to drink there. We left after one and headed to the hotel for a jacuzzi before bed.

Hey there! I have a studio in a Pilates gym. Its called Flow and it is in lincoln Park. Not so much of a spa, but if you would like some recommendations I'd be happy to help! I was with the W hotel spa before I opened my own space. There are alot of choices so tell me what you are looking for and I can guide you to the right place! Where do you live?

We live in Kenosha County. Out in the country. But I LOVE to come to Chicago to shop and walk around the area. We went to a spa across(behind) Chicago Place that was very nice.

Ok your avatar looks NOTHING like you in the pic! The avatar looks all innocent, and now reading this trip report....SUNDIALS??? Why don't things like this happen when I am around?!!

ChicagoGuy...

Sounds like you had a pretty good time! I'll have to head a little further north next trip and check out that beach. I haven't even been to Coco beach yet. Sad huh?

And ditto what ryshkus said about your avatar. Looks like your daughter went nuts with the tatoo gun!

Keep the report coming!

was it Maxims Spa? They are nice! My new fav is at the Peninsula Hotel Spa!

I really debated posting that pic Because of my wierd crooked grin, but the girls looked so beautiful that I just had to post it ( I knew I should've chopped out my big head) Innocent is just my disguise, and only when Im wearing long sleeves and long pants. Most people say I look "too to be of any danger to myself or others" I guess that is kinda like innocent

The sundials,oh those crazy naked people. It was the cleanest analogy I could muster. It shocked ME and that is saying something. OK I wasn't really that bothered by it, in fact I took pictures! I figure if you are brave enough to do THAT in public, are you really gonna care if its documented!
I was bothered by the fact that alot of people just happen to be strollin by
that stretch of beach and suddenly find themselves in the midst of naked gay boys-no real problem, folks just look straight ahead (no pun intended)
and walk at a quicker pace. But I wouldn't want my mother to walk along and stumble across guys actually "doing it". The poor girl would lose it.
If people start to make a habit of it, I'd guess someone would put a stop to the nude beach altogether I went to alot of nude beaches when I lived in Hawaii and it was my understanding that if you wanted to "hook up"
you took that party off the sand and into the bushes! OK I'm gonna stop now!

I regret not being able to make it to TB on the first, I was really looking forward to meeting you! I have enjoyed reading your posts. I guess it was for the best, seeing as you had already fulfilled your HOMO quota for this trip! Hey maybe I can be the gay element in your next trip!
You have a great attitude about it, no surprise. You are obviously an outgoing and very approachable person, and apparently you must also be quite good looking if ALL the WOMEN, AND a few MO's hit on you!

You really have to make it up north to COCO and beyond! It is beautiful and
once you pass COCO there are very few people, its nice to walk for half an hour and pass just four or five people on the beach!

Its funny you mention the tattoo's and children. My mom gets so pissed every time I go see her in Memphis because my nieces are obsessed with my ink, it started with them spiting on thier fingers and attemting to scrub the tattoos off of me, followed by them drawing all over themselves with ink pens and Magic Markers That did not sit very well with grandma!
I'm not going to tell my tattoo artist your comment, after spending 15 hours creating that one of a kind piece, I don't think he would consider that a compliment. He did however just sit me down in a chair and started going crazy drawing on me with an ink pen-just to layout some of the basics. Also you are seeing at least 2 different tats I had already, the one around my neck and the atomic symbol on my arm. The piece on my chest arm and back is the new custom piece he did to create a more cohesive look, guess it didn't work

I'll return to the trip report tomorrow!!!
