Playa Experts Needed
Im thinking about taking off from Playa for a few days and going down the coast to Xcalak or Mahahual. Any advice for wich one to stay in? Do you recommend renting a car and driving or just take the bus?
Thanks |

Mahahual would have more accommodation options than Xcalak (but still not that many options). Enjoy. |

We went down in 2003 and enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Tierra Maya in Xcalek. A small hotel of 6 rooms, wonderful restaurant and great hosts, Kim and David. They have kayaks and bicycles for your use. The rate includes a very good buffet breakfast. The dinners are fantastic. You will be surprised at the quality of meals here at Hotel Tierra Maya and the personal service from the hosts.
You can arrange a day trip by boat to San Pedro, Belize from there through XTC dive center. Remember, you will need your passports to enter Belize. You can check out their site at: http://www.tierramaya.net/ We have lots of pictures from our trip down there. Let me know if you are interested and we can e-mail them to you. Gary |

We bought a penthouse condo with solarium at Playa Kaan at 15th and 12th. Two blocks up from Fifth. A great area and close to all! There are only 2 or 3 units left out of 33. All the final finishing touches are taking place now and we are setting up house (rental) the last week of July. We can't wait...our five year plan is down to 2 years and 2 months!

I've never been to xcalek but i went to mahahual and we searched all night for hotel accomodations and didn't find any. it sucked, we tried sleepin outside on hammocks but the mosquitos bit us up so we ended up driving to the next city over. but mahahual is so beautiful... the water has so many different colors.
