New hospital to be built...
...near the southern entrance to Playacar, according to signs up at the site. Some of it seems to be started already. Don't remember the name but my wife recognized it as one from Spain.

From personal experience I can tell you that Hospiten is an amazing hospital. I broke my leg quite badly in December '04 at the Mayan Palace. The doctor at the resort was useless but she did suggest going to Hospiten. I had surgery the same day and the care was truly wonderful. If they are building a Hospiten in PDC that can only be good for those who can afford it. (Always travel with emegency medical insurance! my surgery alone would have been $10,000 USD if I had not had insurance.)
Coming back to PDC in December and I do not plan on breaking anything! I have to make up for my lost vacation, three days at the resort and three days in Hospiten was not really my idea of a good time! We couldn't bribe the doctor to say I wasn't fit to fly for a month... we had to come home on our scheduled flight. |
