Just got back; 6 Great Eats
3 lunches and 3 dinners to rave about here:
The Mayan restaurant on the Coba Playa.info tour was very good. If you go on your own I'm sure Heather can give you the name. It's right across the street from the lake where kids are feeding and teasing crocodiles.
Xlapak: On 5th above 14th. Don't let the "Best Smoothies in Town" sign scare you away. They have a 49 peso lunch special that includes appetzer, entree, and drink. Try the Chaya, not sure exactly what it is but it is a very good N/A drink (they also have a full bar), and their chicken mole rocked. And they are on the card.
Playa Maya: The coconut shrimp have been discussed a million times on here but they really ARE that good.
Fly Bar: 5th and 12th(?) Not cheap, we went there for Mme Dogma's b'day. She had beef tenderloin medallions, I had a mexican chicken fillet. Both were excellent.
Palapa Hemingway 5th btwn 12 and 14. I need a yearly fix of Tequila Shrimp!!
Apasionado: 14th and 5th upstairs. A'ndrea turned us onto this place. Both of us had pollo relleno (or "stuffeb chicken" as it said on their English menu). It was awsome.
More trip highlights in the days to come! Voof
