Recent shark attacks in Florida

Just wondering if sharks would be a problem in Playa too?

I read there is totaly not a shark problem in Playa. Cancun can be (because of the deeper waters) more a problem but the changes are the same as when you pass by a building and something is falling on your head ....

Just the timeshare sharks. Just thump them on the nose.

All the sharks in Playa have two legs and start their sentences with "Hey, amigo!"

Cheers for putting my mind at rest (I can cope with the two legged variety!)

Sharks or pigs???

My late Grandfather was a farmer, among other things. He farmed 800+ acres and raised corn, soy beans, cattle and, yes, pigs.

A little known piece of trivia that gets frequently over looked is that more people are attacked, injured and even killed by pigs than sharks. The reason you don't hear about these occurances is because the news reporters would rather do interviews on a sunny, sandy beach as opposed to standing on 6 inches of...

The loss of the young girl in FL is a reminder that WE are swimming in their pool.

Except that statistic is flawed . They took the population as a whole, which in that case it is true. So yeah Wayne who lives in the heart of Kansas will statisticly never get biten by a shark. But what about Dave? Dave is a Santa Cruz, California surfer that paddles out every day. So yeah what about him?

Your about 100 times more likely to die on your way to work than you are to even see a shark while swimming, and about a 100,000 times more likely to die in a freak accident involving a stapler than by a shark.

I better never leave my house again. I'd have to:
1. shower, could slip and fall
2. make breakfast, gas could catch fire and burn down house
3. eat breakfast, which MAY be poisoned
4. start engine of my combustible fuel truck CRAZY!!
5. drive on Dallas freeway to DFW, I see wrecks everyday
6. touch a counter at DFW, the person before me could be the carrier of a deadly virus
7. get on a plane????? those things crash like every couple years
8. use the lav? not enough Purell in the world to kill what is going on in there....

I think you get my drift.

If it is your time, it's your time. Shark or no shark.

I don't even get in the water without my bang stick and a liberal application of SeaSafe.

The way I see it, as long as I don't go swimming naked in the ocean with bright, shiny tin foil wrapped around my "Lil' Elvis" all lookin' like a 10 dollar bass lure, I consider myself pretty safe.
