THANKS Roni! for posting your pictures, your yard is beautiful and so is your wife! Hmm...not sure I want to post any pictures - since we put on an addition last year and we're having a patio poured next week our yard is in a bit of disarray. Maybe a picture from the street then you can see my flower boxes and partial shade garden.

Thanks again!

Okay, Ron, you showed me yours so I'll show you mine (Kathy IS the most beautiful flower, btw!)

Here's Jorden in the hammock John just put up:

here's the vegie garden John build just for the kids:

as you can see the lettuce is coming in rather nicely:

Susie, recognize the Paamul turtle??

Here's Jorden in the kids' hammock John put up in their old clubhouse:

Here's a beautiful bird bath. My friend makes these, the picture doesn't realty show the convexity of it, but they are just beautiful:

Tommy, were you mentioning big Christmas trees? How about this on in our yard:

Ron, you've got it good livin up there in that terrarium, I wish I was that lucky, but we're at the opposite extreme. 100+ degree heat, watering restrictions that can go as far as not even being able to hand water, solid rock for soil, and plenty of deer.... so basically, no tender fufu plants here, mainly native perennials. We have a 1 acre lot with 32 large native Live Oaks and I have supplemented that with 2 Chinquapin oaks, 4 Monterrey oaks, 2 Lacey oaks, 2 Lost maples, 8 Texas Mountain Laurel, 3 vitex trees, 4 yaupon Holly, a huge Natchez Crepe Myrtle, 1 Saucer Magnolia, 1 sculpted Texas Redbud, and a Japanese Maple. Irrigated truf area is +/- 22,000 sqaure feet, +/- 5000 square feet native wildflower area, and +/- 6000 square feet shrub/mulch beds. The Colorado term "Xeriscape" disturbs me, so, I call this "Miniscape" for it's low maintenance/water requirements. Other than mowing, 90% of my yardwork is done in winter (and with my butt ailment in the fall and recent back injury, I'm way behind on making the yard presentable for the PCTRTR III )

here's a few pics to start.
The front yard is designed around large Live Oak groups with a water feature, and decomposed granite trail meandering thru the garden

Texas Redbud sculpted over 7 years with a japanese layering method

Well we don't have a garden here in Playa but here's the view of the shared courtyard. Sorry, it's a bad pic taken with my mobile phone.

Wow, your garden looks a bit flooded and that's one hell of a waterfall you've built - it looks actual size!

the infamous Party Patio

and hopefully, I get some more of this project finished in the next couple of weeks. The rock used for the borders was excavated last during the patio construction, so instead of hauling it off, I just figure out a way to use it in the yard. The area defined around the tree trunks will be a granite trail, the other areas will be flowering perennials
