If you plan on going to Mérida, you should consider spending the night. A Sunday would be the best time to visit and stay the night. A wonderful hotel is the Luz de Yucatan. On the way back to PM vía Cancun, stop in Izamal. It has to be one of the most charming towns in the area. Take a ride in a horse drawn carriage around the town so that you can see some of the neat houses.
