My wife is moonlighting
Delmy just showed me her new business card, which claims that she is now
(queue drum roll) Vice President of the Asociación de Hoteles de la Riviera Maya for the Playa del Carmen Zone (queue fanfare) This seems a bit of a coup, actually, given our quite small size and the fact that that association, the much larger of the two relevant in this region, is generally viewed as taking the interests of the large resorts much more to heart than those of the smaller hotels. (In fact I believe that was the motivation for the creation of the other association, focused on small hotels.) Ah, Delmy now says that they AHRM seems to be moving towards more support for smaller hotels, so maybe this is evidence of that. Anyway, it was news to me so I wanted to share! Steve |

Of course she's always been the boss at Playa Maya (if you ask her). She's the one who has to author the letter to immigration every year informing them of the hotel's wish to continue employing me. So I have to butter her up a lot each year around that time.
Incidentally the AHRM position is unpaid, at least as far as I know. (Maybe she's holding out on me.) Steve |
