My friend loaned me this book - awfully written but interesting - called "Deadly Innnocence." Otherwise, I wouldn't have even known who she was.

Oh, & the depth of her "insight" into her crimes and her displays of "remorse" are breathtaking. An excerpt from the interview:

Napier (the journalist): Your relationships with family are difficult?

Homolka: In what way?

Napier: You took part with Paul Bernardo in the death of your little sister and in the rape of your little sister. Hence my question as to whether your relationship with your family is difficult.

Homolka: No, my family loves me ...(tilt head, bat eyelashes)

- she then went on to parrot stock phrases from counselling 101. Yes, she's got the psychobabble down pat but never convinced any professional that she experiences true remorse for what she did.

And how about this?

Napier: What kind of work would you like to do?

Homolka: I'm ready to do anything, except the only things important to me are first, that it be legal. Second, that it is moral. And third, that it doesn't go against my conditons [of release].

Oh good, now it is important to her not to kidnap, rape, torture and murder school girls. I'm so convinced, I'm so relieved.

It makes me sick that I recognize her. Her crimes made me sad to be a fellow Canadian.

Lucky for her she's being released in Quebec, where she is much less known. Much as I hate what she's done, I suspect she'll live out her life in relative obscurity and likely won't reoffend (aside from the offense we feel from her existing at all).

She makes me ill. However, what goes around comes around. I won't be suprised if she winds up dead, if someone out there in the public doesn't do it then maybe her new convict boyfriend, who was convicted of killing his ex-girlfriend for trying to leave him will do it instead.

This woman is evil and I would prefer that law enforcement watch her but the rest of the world forget that she exists. She says she wants to be left alone but goes on TV as soon as she gets out of prison. Criminals should not be made into celebrities, especially this one.

She's a criminal who has recently been released from prison after serving only 12 years for 3 heinous kindnappings/rapes/murders she committed with her then husband...one of which was her younger sister. From the sounds of it she has not changed and has even been having an affair with a convicted murderer - what is wrong with some people!!!

I learned of her when I was in Canada in mid June...although our local paper wrote an artical about her in Monday's paper.

What she did and who she is does not reflect bad (IMO) on Canada AT all!!
