Welcome Dolce
A couple of weeks ago my husband and I were talking about children. Since a lot of crazy things are going on in our lives like buying our building etc.. we decided to wait on having more babies until the end of 2007. By then we will have the house and have it re-done. (that's the new thing with buying buildings in Bridgeport). So I was thinking of something a little different...........
I'd like to introduce the newest member of our family, Dolce (means "sweet" in Italian). She is a chocolate toy miniature pinscher about 6 weeks old right now. She will be ready to come home with us on July 20th says the breeder. We are very excited to bring her home with us. I was telling Steve that I feel like we have adopted a child from overseas and I can't wait for the day we get to meet her. Every day the breeder sends me a little Dolce report because he knows how anxious we are. Everything is ready for her when she gets here and I have even baby proofed my house again. I have been reading everything on line and in books about her and what to do with puppies. Like how to crate train, being good, tricks and all sorts of stuff. BUT, I know having a puppy is a very big deal and will take a lot of time and patience. So if there is any advice you all can give me I would be so greatful. I have never had a dog in my life and honestly don't really know what to expect. I am excited and nervous. It IS like I have adopted a child. Good thing I am home all the time and the pup will never be alone. Hey uhhh... since she is going to be a posh pup, she might need some kind of cute necklace.....Maybe a Nerak necklace. So send tips and luck to us as we welcome Dolce into our family.Isn't she the sweetest thing? ![]() |

OMG, Jackie!!! I've just fallen in love!!! What a sweetheart she is!!!
Congratulations on your upcoming new arrival. Can't wait to see more pics as she grows (and gets into trouble and chews your $90 shoes and pees on the carpet and tears up your incoming mail........) And you'll love every minute of it!! |

The day we brought her home didn't come fast enough for us. We drove 3 hours to get her and 4 1/2 hours back home. Last night was a little hard. Kind of like having a baby again. She cried all night and we felt so bad but just kept her in her cage. Today she got the hint that that is where she sleeps. She goes in it when she wants to sleep and goes peepee on the puppy pad when we take her out of the cage. We are just so thrilled to have her join our family. Lexi is so good with her, I am just a little afraid she might step on her. Iam keeping a close eye.
Anyone else have any new pets or baby pictures of them? Pets are great. This is actually my first dog ever! She is a min pin but we might not clip her ears because she looks so darn cute. |

Not trying to be mean to you, and I hope I don't get slammed for this, but PLEASE DO NOT CLIP HER EARS. It is done for purely cosmetic reasons and is not nessecary. In my mind it is a cruel, unnessecary procedure. Again, not trying to be mean to you, but I feel pretty strongly about procedures done to animals for cosmetic purposes. Please accept my apologies if I inadverantly offend you or hurt your feelings. |

Oohh...Jackie what an adorable little puppy!! Leave her ears the way they are, she is just too cute and sweet!!.
We have 2 dogs. One is a Lhasa Apso named Maxwell and a Yorshire Terrier named Bruno. They are very good company for us, especially now that we are empty nesters. You get sooo attached to them! We crate trained Bruno as well. At first it was difficult to leave him in there for the night. However, it became easier when I started to give him a doggy cookie before putting him in the crate. All I would have to do is show him the cookie and say to him: "OK Bruno, time for bed" - and he would actually run to his crate and hop in on his own. I would also give him a treat every time he did his "duty" where he was suppose to - he learned quickly! ![]() |

I agree about the ears. Leave 'em be, please!
Don't even get me started about de-clawing of cats. If people are that concerned about their furniture, don't get a cat. The solution isn't to have the cat's fingertips medically chopped off (which is what de-clawing entails). But...back to ON TOPIC. Dolce is BEAUTIFUL!!! Enjoy her and love her to pieces!! Those beautiful eyes she has..... how could anyone NOT fall in love with her?? I wish you many many many happy years together!! |

Thanks everyone. My husband and I agreed on leaving her ears.Tell me she isn't the cutest thing. We saw her parents and her father has floppy ears and he was just so sweet. They were very tiny min pins. Only 5 and 6 lbs. Well, Dolce is adjusting to her new home very well. It's amazing because when we put her to bed last night she never cried. When she woke up for a potty break, she just wimpered and when she was done she wen't right back to sleep. NOW......To get Lexi to go potty this easy!

Uh oh.
![]() Just kidding, she is a real cutie. ![]() The reason I say 'uh oh' is our neighbours across the street have one and he is a handful! This morning I was driving by their place and saw he was loose outside...he was standing next to a planter that he had totally destroyed! LOL...geranium and greenery bits and dirt all over the driveway....not sure where his papa or mama was. But I know they love him to death besides his puppy ways. They never clipped his ears either, it looks just as cute. ![]() |

I bought some bamboo stalks at Ikea about a month ago and I just noticed a couple days ago brown areas on them.....looked closer and say teeny teeth marks...the kitties have been gnawing on them! Also I bought a majesty palm plant- they love chewing on that! Then puking up the greens on my carpet. ![]() |
