Terror in London
By now all have heard the news I guess.
This is horrible. I've got numerous friends in London- and have been trying to contact them. To no avail of course as the lines are busy. But I am quite sure they will be fine. The worst thing I've realized is that I wasn't even surprised when I heard it. To my mind it was just a matter of time. Weird times we live in when terror-attacks don't even surprise you anymore. I have been planning to go to London in September. And da.. I will!!!!! If I know one thing it is that if we all start changing our lives or our plans due to being scared it is one of the things these terrorists want. I've been following the same policy when I moved back to Mex last time. That was one month after the WTC- when noone knew what was going to happen. But I went anyhow- just to make my own little statement (even if just to myself) that these maniacs will NOT rule my life. If any of you reading this is in London or has relatives/ friends there I hope that you are allright and no one is harmed. |

You're right, Joana. We can't let the bastards win by changing how we live our lives. And I'll never EVER complain about waiting in a long security line at an airport.
My thoughts and prayers are with those in London. To go from the happiness of the 2012 Olympics news to this..... just so sad. And downright maddening. ![]() |

Nerak that is exactly what tony blair just said in his statement to the press. That the will to succeed at destroying and taking over with extremist actions, is nothing in comparison to the will and goals of the members of g8 to preserve the freedom and lifestyle that civilized countries have become acostomed to.

I always wonder, with such tragic events, why people are doing these horrible things to one another?
How can they do such things in the first place? What is on their mind ('though I doubt whether I really want to know, let alone understand)? What justification is there for terrorism? Is there any anyway? I feel sad. I feel helpless. I feel angry. I feel puzzled. Questions keep coming up in my mind, but there seems to be no answer... My heart goes out to all involved in the assaults. The victims and their families. The rescuers and their families. The investigators and their families ...and so on and so on... I fear this has an enormous impact on the lives of all those involved, and anyone who has not experienced such an event himself will probably never be able to comprehend the effect it must have on someones life. I sincerly hope that all those inolved will find the strenght to deal with it and will find a way to pick up themselves and/or others and will be able to continue their lives... |

Once again the barbarians have used innocent civilians as their targets. Once again they have miscalculated as they did on 9/11. Britain is our friend and ally through thick and thin and will never be intimidated by terrorists. All they have done is strengthen the resolve of the British people. Don't these Islamists read history, Britain wasn't about to bend over for Hitler and they certainly won't for a bunch of ragheads. Look for the war on terror to be kicked up several notches. my 2 cents worth, the only solution is to keep killing them where they live. Appeasement and self-flagellation doesn't work. Europe needs to realize that they need to assimilate their Arab immigrants and not create enclaves of people that do not share a common culture, language or view of democratic principles. Much to some progressives dismay as they would like to see everyone with their own language, and the idea of a melting pot harshes their buzz. Hopefully the death and destruction are minimized and we wish our English speaking friends and allies the best. God bless Britain.

Hi All
Just to let you know that I'm in London at the moment (just off Oxford Street) and it's very sombre here at the moment. Just trying to work out how I'm going to get home (no tubes , buses or trains). There aren't many people out on the streets at the moment and no cars on the roads. Stacey x |

This is war. The extremist’s war. To understand we need to look at it from the outside. These people are angry. They hate Europe and the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><ST1:pUS</ST1:p. They have not respect for human life. Even not in their own country. Do they have a reason? Yes. That is not difficult to see. Many poor countries have been tortured by Europe and the <ST1:pUS for many years. And many people see that we are harming the poor countries and demonstrate. When George Bush visited <ST1:pDenmark </ST1:ptwo days ago, thousands were out in the street demonstrating. Many People in <ST1:pScandinavia</ST1:p really hate him and thinks he is the worst terrorist. But I'm glad to say we are not so extreme that we are doing terror. Even if some is throwing stones outside the G8 meeting. My thoughts to all the people harmed in this attack. Last edited by Thor Henning : 07-07-2005 at 09:20 AM. |

Sheesh, I woke up at 7:22 and turned on the TV to see terror being reigned down on innoccent British people, men women and children. It's an eery flashback to 9/11 when I woke up in the early am to hear about the reign of terror on our friends to the south. It's almost enough to make me apprehensive about turning on the TV each morning for fear of what has happened over night.
My heart goes out to the British people, to those affected by this tragedy directly, and to all others who will be affected by the fear and terror that it will cause them, their families, their children. And my heart goes out to all the world that we live in that we ALL have to live in fear of such cowardly acts that these perpetrators think are worthy and couragous. I'll say prayers for the families of all involved, for strength for their nation, and continued prayers that our world can somehow find some peace within itself. |
