"Mexican Pickups"

We just returned from our second trip to PdC a week ago. Even though it was overcast and rainy for the first three days, and I survived my excruciatingly painful wrenched lower back on days 2-4, we had a wonderful time, once again.

I run a restaurant in Wisconsin, and we feature Italian Gelato on our menu. I'm looking for buy a three-wheeled bicycle like the ones I saw in Playa. I've seen them referred to as "Mexican Pickups" on the internet, but can't locate a source for them. They have two wheels in the front, supporting a cargo basket. I'd like to customize it to carry a deep freezer chest for selling our Gelato along parade routes.

Does anyone have an idea of who might manufacture these? I saw a bunch of them, all new white ones, lined up on the street at the new hotel directly across from Babe's and Scream Ink, but didn't have the smarts to ask anyone about it at the time. Amazing what we think about after we return, isn't it?

Anywho, if you can help steer me to the right place, it's mucho appreciated!

triciclos (tricycles) are used all over Mexico and are made by the major Mexican bike companies, like Mercurio.

Send a message via Skype™ to PlayadelSoul
You can buy them in Telebodega. Shipping might be a problem, however.

San Francisco de Asisi had them the last time we were down there, also, that little grocery across the street (the one with all the pinatas) had a lot of them.

Saw a nice one of those popping out of its box at the Benotto store on 30th the other day when we picked up Benjamin's new bike. (He turned 8 yesterday.) The guy there said they ran for something approaching 2,000 pesos, or another 300 or so to get one with the nice, fat tires.
