Question BASIL Mojitos?

From the Wall Street Journal, Friday, June 8, 2005:

STRANGE BREWS

...............And this season, Marriott sent out recipes to 320 hotels that included a new mojito that uses basil instead of mint.

I LOVE basil, but in a MOJITO? Just a little over the top for my tastes! Apparently the liquor and restaurant industries are looking for ways to keep liquor sales growth going strong, and so are coming up with drinks to make "customers feel like they have to try the next new thing."

Some of "the next new things" include bubblegum martinis, martinis with a pickled baby octopus draped over the glass and carrot caipirinhas.

Pass the tequila......

Guess it's better than an adult octopus. I think they would have a hard time finding a glass big enough to hold it.

It may work...let's see...
Instead of the mint, add basil. Instead of the sugar add ground pinenuts, instead of the lemon-lime soda add olive oil and instead of the rum, add garlic oil. Mix in the mortar with pestle and pour over pasta...
I have that way please...we can call it Pestijo...
