Is the Playa Deal card accepted at Mamitas?
I'm seriously considering getting one, it looks like I would visit every place on the list anyway and it would be nice to get the discounts.
I saw that the card is good at Playa Tucan, but what about drinks/food at Mamitas? I'll be staying at the Riviera Caribe Maya...and that's the beach club they use. Any ideas, suggestions? I know questions about the PD card are often repeated, I don't mean to annoy...but I'm curious: Many places on the list say "One time use" and others don't. I want to be clear how many times I can use the card at a certain establishment. Also, how would they know if you've already gotten the discount? Thanks for the help, I'll be sitting down with my partners in crime this weekend to discuss the various and wonderous options that Playa has to offer, I'd like to bring the PD card idea to the table. Muchas Gracias! ![]() Tina |

I was just in PDC and we used the deal card quite a bit. Mamitas is not one of the places on the card so it is not accepted there. We used it right next door at Playa Tukan quite a few times.
The information you get when you pick up the card makes it very clear which places are one time use and which are not. The ones that are one time use will cut out a notch in your card which corresponds to their number on the side of your card. That way they know that you have already used it there. There aren't that many places which are only one time use. We found that since there were so many choices with the card that we would only have used the card at those places once anyway. We bought our card and still found that we saved a lot of money by having it. We easily recouped our cost and saved at least as much as the cost of the card on top of that. If we had used it for purchases or snorkelling then we really would have saved. We only used it for food and drink. |

Since Mamita's and Tucan are side by side, I see no reason why you couldn't get a palapa/chair at Mamita's and then walk over the Tucan's for drinks/food, the only drawback being that you wouldn't be able to eat/drink the Tucan's goods at your chair. But if you wanted a break from the sun for a while, it might be an option.
And.... you'll love the Riv Caribe. We stayed there last February and already have reservations for during Peep Fest 2006! |

I'm really excited abou the RCM - every review I've read has been positive...so thanks for the thumbs up. I actually set up a spread sheet of all the hotels in our price range, and the RCM came out on top...talk about obsessed! I'm keeping my fingers crossed since I'm responsible for 2 other couples too (their first time). I don't know If I can convince each couple to purchase a PD Card, but I'm definitely going to get one for us...what are the chances of establishments being added to the card by October? Just a thought ![]() Thanks again for all the info...I'll have to be getting some Nerak beads soon, hope to meet some of the great peeps from this site! Tina |
