I think it is best to browse the other posts on the subject of this restaurant. That will give you the widest cross section of opinions. In summary, while I have had good food in Alux. The primary draw is the ambiance, and some people would not risk the food or the service and stick with a cocktail at the bar.

2 restaurants with similar names
One is called Los Aluxes on 5th and calle 16. This one is on a rooftop in the trees and has pretty good food. The cave restaurant has a very cool atmosphere, but it's on the expensive side and not as good of food. I say go for drinks and experinece the place and have dinner elsewhere. |

Yes, I have been there. It is really cool but the food was pricey and I would never recommend the place based on the food alone. There are so many wonderful places to eat in Playa I would eat first then go in for drinks and some nightlife. I would compare the food we had there to the basic dinner buffets at the All inclusives (edible but I've had better) I do have some pictures if you haven't seen the inside. Send me a pm and I will email you a few. |

I just had dinner at Los Aluxes on Sat July 9th (recommended from the mapchick map, thanks!) I dined alone and had a wonderful steak and lobster dinner with 2 drinks that cost about $31.00. The servers and ambiance were
terrific. Quote:

This restaurant is VERY good! In terms of great food, ambience and locations, and the service as well. It is in a quieter area so is usually not overly busy. Order the chicken with orange sauce (off the menu now but they will still make it for you!) I heard the food was not great at the 'cave restaurant' (how doyou get to it, by the way?) but I would like to hear someone review it with the new owners.
