Taco,
Check with your bank to find out how much you'll get charged using an ATM here - they'll let you know which 'brand' to use! We seldom use TC but I had to bring some down recently and cashed them at an exchange. It took a while because they are very careful, checking ID and counting, but whatever they make on the transaction is within the exchange rate, so there's no 'overt fee'. On most of our trips, we get cash from the ATMs (Scotiabank) and have a credit card or two available in case of a large purchase. The only thing that'll kill you is if the mag stripe on your ATM card gets so worn it can't be read. We replace our cards at the bank before heading down each winter, just in case. |

If you take them to the American Express money exchange which is on 5th ave. and 6th street, there is no surcharge per cheque. My partner took a few hundred bucks in traveler's cheques and he cashed them there. The lines were not bad either.
