Wild On! at ****** last Saturday 9/07
The one person in the Playa.info office who is still in her 20s may be able to report on the hotly attended Wild On! taping event, which was held at the ****** last Saturday.
Umm...no, it wasn't me. Sonia?!? |

Real fun I gotta say, met some nice people there. And the cover wasn't really a cover since you had to pay 50 pesos per person, but that gave you 2 free beers or 1 national drink, so you're even. |

The only bad thing about it was......It REALLY seemed to bring out the party til you puke and act stupid crowd(we even wondered if people came in from Cancun from the looks of it) Not your nice, normally fun, laid-back Playa crowd. We walked over to see the fire-dancers and saw there was a cover, said, no thanks, and left. We sat at the TB before that and there were a BUNCH of typical young American males, waaaaayyyy to loud, drunk, and just acting stupid! All-in-all, NOT what most people think of when they think of Playa

I was annoyed with the cover, but after the beer ticket it's not a bad deal. I could be wrong, but I think they said something about charging certain nights of the week (as a permanent thing). I wasn't there last night, but Thursday we paid the cover.

When I was in Playa two weeks ago we did pay for cover one night. I think it was Friday night but it could have been Saturday. We figured with the drink ticket it wasn't so bad. Plus I am used to paying cover to go to bars because just about every bar in my city charges some kind of cover charge on the weekends.

What? A cover at the ******? Was that just for that night, or is it always like that? Do they have the chairs on the beach roped off or something? Can you get in on the beach side, or just the street side? Hmm, cover would be a bummer - not that it's that big of a deal, but I liked the open bar atmosphere where you could go dance, or just hang out on the beach.

I was there last night. The so called "cover" that everyone is referencing is really more of an advance purchase to insure that the people inside are paying customers.
From what I've seen, the place has become so much more popular in just the past year, they probably did it for crowd control. Just before the door charge started a few months ago, there were were so many people packed in, you could hardly move around, much less get a drink. Its much better now and the door policy seems to cleared out the young local kids and workers that would just come to hang out. Does anyone really expect to go out and not spend at least $5 bucks on drinks? I have no problem ponying up at the door for a well controlled, quality environment with great entertainment. See you there again tonight! Yom |

$3M would seem a low price for the ******t, given word of sale prices approaching that for the old Albatros property and for the Alejari. Steve |
