rooftop shots for ya

Had to get up on the roof again today so I snapped things with my craptacular digital camera (came free with the printer, no zoom whatsoever, woo-hoo!).

The first 2 show some more of the construction at the site of the Alabatros at the end of 8th Street. I for one am wondering what that cornered off area in the first shot is going to be.

Turning the other way this time, looking south, the 3rd shot shows from distance some of the progress on the new condos going up on the south side of 6th at the beach.

Tried to get a shot of the new palapa thingies Illusion recently put up on the roofs of the rooms already on the roof of their building (don't know if they're for guests or storage or what), but this was late afternoon and that meant staring right into the sun, and, well, I did say craptacular. So you won't see a shot of that.

However that made me thing to turn around and get a freebie shot of the ocean and Cozumel, too. No new construction in that direction!

Hope you like 'em.

Steve

Craptacular! I'm gonna borrow that one!

Pics look great, especially considering the source...(uh, that would be in reference to the disparaged camera, not the photographer :p )

Gotta pay Matt Groening (or his writers) a quarter, then. That's from one of the earliest seasons of The Simpsons. Homer is outraged and the kids are amazed by the elaborate, high quality exterior holiday lighting display put up by Flanders. He decides to match, if not surpass, said display, with predictable results. At the key moment, after a long shot of Flanders' display, the "camera" pans to Homer's attempt, something ungainly misfires and falls from the roof to the ground, and Bart declares, "It's craptacular!"

Yuk, yuk.

Steve

How could I have not heard that before?? We own every season of the Simpsons that's available on DVD. Guess it flew past me. Now I'll remember it forever. I'll try not to use it at your restaurant, though...:p

It's one of my few, laugh out loud, shows. I know some people can't get past the animation (stuffy voice: Cahtoons are for chiiiiildren) but the social commentary is hilarious. Of course, we have to routinely screen kids who come over: Do you watch this at home? If not, they can't watch it at our house. My favorite answer: "Ummm... we watch it when my dad's home."

Sorry... off topic...

I just realized since the webcams down, that's the most current pic of Playa we have right now!

Thanks for the updates and photos Steve!! I'm relieved to hear that everyone is safe and sound and that Playa wasn't hit as hard as expected!

A special thank you for the "freebie" shot...brings back fond memories! That was our balcony there on the top left... Oh to be sitting there again!
