We've chatted a bit about food and cooking, and you and I are both hard core "foodies." That being the case, this place is a do not miss. (Along with HC de Monterrey, of course!) |

A'ndrea, it was 200 pesos! And Heather is right, I think I do remember another lamb dish. You want the lamb shank with the truffle oil mashed potatoes!
I saw your post about HC de Monterry hours, but unfortunately, I've only eaten there for lunch so I don't know!!! Just to be on the safe side, try it at lunch, because you don't want to miss it! I can't wait to hear what you think - looking forward to your trip report overall!!! |

My husband and I just had another fabulous dinner at El Zocalo last night. I just love the spinach salad appetizer, with grilled proscuitto and shaved parmesan - I can't seem to order anything else! Then I had the rack of lamb with some yummy potatoes - the lamb was tender, cooked perfectly, and to say the potatoes were 'scalloped' just doesn't do the dish justice.
It's like you took the best potatoes, put them in the most decadent sauce and then baked them so the top was all creamy, cheesy and crispy all at once. They are insanely good. El Zocalo will continue to be very high on my "must do" list! |

corey and i ate at zocalo last saturday night. they were out of the lamb shank, so we ordered a split the argula salad with the pears and gorgonzola for an appetizer and then for the main course had the steak with the garlic cloves. talk about yummy!!! we introduced ourselves to paul and told him that we had heard great reviews about his place. he seemed pleased. i highly recommend this place as well. the furniture and atmosphere was very pleasing also.

I have been reading alot about this place and have decided to take my mom out to dinner there for her b-day while we are in Playa in February. Should I make reservations ahead of time (not meaning now)? Is there anyway I could see a menu from there? We are not picky eater in the least, we are both huge foodies, I just would like to see waht we are in store for

Anyone have Paul's email so I can make reservations?
Wow!! After reading all of these posts you've made up my mind where I want my husband to take me for Valentine's Day. Does anyone have the email address for Paul so I can make a reservation (we arrive on Valentine's Day)?
Thanks!! |
