I once read an article after the fire that said 4 died in the blaze. There tabloids down there. Some better than others but none hold up in court.
A lawsuit will only delay the progression of the building. Who wants a condo that is legally wrapped up, unrentablable, and worthless for the next 5-10 years. Due to litigation.
For example, You will have a lawsuit against a company that will basically claim bankruptcy, because it will take several years for the lawsuit to go through the legal system down there. Giving them the time to set themselves up for a perfect bankruptcy. Hold tight. Manuel worked with alot of people thru the fire, this is just another horrific set back. I am going to give them 2-3 weeks to come up with a good WRITTEN contract. Then sue or not sue. Being that there is streghnth in numers we can all chip in and digg up O.J.'s
lawyer. Together as a team.
It is sometimes better to catch flies with honey than vinegar. If you think Manuel cannot just walk out on us if we sue you are wrong. Everyone of his projects are under different company names. Enabaling him to claim bankruptcy on anyone of them. At this point, until the gov prints something, lets work with Manuel (logically & freindly), but not to the point where we sighn the letter/contract for demolision until it says something about reconstruction. They Fu** #! up, but are not the worst of people.
The whole thing sucks if it comes down to sueing, we should join together and do it as a team. God I hope it doesnt come to that. Who wants a rentable condo no-one is alowed near for 6-10 years.
Thats how it will work if we sue. Best case senario, we end up with a lean on the property. That we can maybe cash in on in like 10 years. Do not forget here we are the minorities.
Good luck to all in this mess.
Love Brian & Kelly

The north side of the Sol Maya

A friend in town told me that when the pilings for an adjacent building were driven into the ground a piling cracked the roof of a cavern that ran under both buildings. The water and the partial collapse of the Sol Maya are the result of that fissure. I expect they will salvage the building, the South side looks fine and even the Eastern half of the building looks ok from the outside.
