GPR is back up and running. They had bar service last night and should be as back to normal today as they can be. From what I've read and seen, they did not suffer structural damage, but had some flooding and minor cleanups.
My friend their said most of 5th ave was closed last night, but plan on reopening tonight....all seems to be good news

Unfortunately I do not know the road conditions to and fro. Might find out in next few days when they get home. They had quite a bit of flooding, but I imagine that will receed quickly.

GO and have a great time. Last time we stayed we met a couple from Holland that we are still in contact today.
Cheers

Gran Porto Real - Playa

DuoyaltchFairy:

There was extensive flooding on first floor near the beach. There is a photo at this website but I can't seem to find it. We usually stay there but could only get reservation at Royal Porto Real (across the street) starting July 26, 2005, so I guess we will see you there?

Many power lines down, but reports here are that the power is coming on one hotel at a time so that they can manage problems if any. Major concerns would be drinking water. Water may not be on yet.

Only reservations in the Royal Porto Real? That's not a big problem for me!!!
A juniorsuite with oceanview...good food and drinks... Nice nice!!!

Power is coming on one hotel at a time? That's also good news...

Water...that seem to be a big problem...no water, no Playa del Carmen!

Keep the faith,

See you maybe in Playa on the 26e!!!

Sorry guy's for my Dutch...don't want to hurt anyones feelings, just explaining that everything will be as nice as it will ever be...

My wife flew done on Wednesday morning frm DC. No problem. Got a van to PDC no problem. Roads fine. Our place is at 1st and calle 24, so immediately north of your hotel. flooding down, roads clear. everybody out cleaning up, and making great progress. My wife was goign to get to the beach today to survey. anyway, sounds like you shouldn't have a problem.
