Rob and I took Connor to a midnight book release party at our local bookstore in Mystic, CT. It was packed with "kids" of all ages. Lots of people in costume dressed as their favorite character. They had wand making booths set up and other diversions for the "kids" in line. I have read all the books and really enjoy the series. This summer, I am going to revisit the CS Lewis series...The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe etc. They were favorites of mine a child, pre-Potter.

Read all of them- saw all the movies. Loved them. Which is ironic as- throughout the first year of the hype- I was in the "anti" department, as I don't like hypes. But then I started getting curious as I wondered what this is all about. Read the first book- there you have it. Hooked.
Gotta admit I am such a dork- I read a spoilerish review of the new book (which I am getting from England in a few days), which included ALL the details. The ones who read it know what I mean......still can't wait to read it though. |

MWC- I know. Same happened to me with #5. It's a mixture of too much curiosity when reading spoilerish articles and dorkiness in a way as well.......but I still had fun with #5.
And even when you know what happens beforehand- you still want to know the details to it..... |

I really enjoy reading Harry Potter. My daughter (age 19)and her friends still dress up and have Harry Potter Parties (everyone dresses up as one of the characters) and they play games, drink 'pumpkin juice' and generally have a great time each time a book is released.
She showed me an 'insightful' site-it is an interview with JK Rowlings (the author) by some HP fans. You should read the book before you venture there. http://www.mugglenet.com/jkrinterview.shtml |

I bought the first book a few years ago thinking that I could maybe get my son to actually read a whole book. After it sat that for a week untouched by my son, I picked it up and read it in one day. I was back at the book store for books 2, 3 & 4. I couldn't put them down. Finished book 6 last week, was very sad at the end. Now 2 more years to wait for the last one. Oh yes, my son finally did pick up the book, he is now as hooked as me. I also have my step daughter hooked on them as well. Oh well, there's much worse things kids could be hooked on then Harry Potter.
