How far in advance to book the Lindo?

I have heard that it is tough to get a room at the IB Lindo unless you book extremely early. Anyone know if there is any truth to this? If so, how early do you think reservations should be made? We are lookin at next year, maybe early to mid June--I just hate to make reservations so early than I am constantly thinking about it!!!

If you are looking to book through a tour operator like Apple or Funjet, and for some time next year in 2006, you may find that they do not have next years prices yet. When we were at the Lindo last year, it was sold out. It is a very nice resort, so I would start making calls to find out if they are taking bookings yet and if so, get a deposit down asap. I know for us, that has been a problem in the past because we need to work schedules and firm up travel dates. Sometimes it looks like a particular resort will be filled up before we can get everything set on our end. So far we have been lucky. Good luck to you in your search.

I booked the Lindo in February for our trip leaving tomorrow - returning Aug 3. All rooms were sold out at the time but when our travel agent went to book us at the Quezetal two rooms opened up at the Lindo. I recommend booking early to get the hotel you want.

It's tricky, but possible to book close to trip time!

Hi chocoligato! I know from personal experience that it's possible to book a trip to the Lindo fairly close to the tikme you want to travel. I booked our upcoming stay (Aug.28) in early July. I booked through a travel agent rather than through one of the big charter companies because we have a couple of timing issues--couldn't leave on Saturday like all the charters want you to, and wanted 8 nights, not 7. Also, had specific dates we had to travel, due to my husband's work schedule. Rooms were very tight, but we were able to book the trip. If you are planning a trip over Easter weekend, or another holiday/vacay week, you may need to book further in advance. It definitely makes sense to look into availabilty as soon as you know your vacation dates because you'd hate to miss out, or have to stay someplace that you might not like as much! Good luck!

Thats great, but lest anyone get the wrong idea, this situation is probably more the exception than the rule. Being hurricane season (not even considering the recent one) may have a bearing on this as well. Most of the Iberostar's run pretty close to full during high season. If you have to wait until much closer to the intended departure date, you may even get a great deal. But to do that, I think you need to be flexible both in the dates, length of travel and the resort. Just my humble opinion. As we see for the previous posting, sometimes the planets allign and everything works out. I am NEVER that lucky.

I agree ....I have read on other boards of people who were trying to book there for this past summer and could not get in. And besides if you know that is the resort you want ...go for it. The Iberostars dont go on sale very often either. If I am not mistaken I only saw it once or twice(not sure on the twice) thru Apple. and if you book thru Apple you will need to use a travel agent anyway. You will love the Lindo...be sure to use all the resorts property there!
