Mayan Palace ~ Looking for information
Hello All,
I have searched for information on the Mayan Palace but am not having much luck. Looks like a very new resort. I had a search in the Playa Del Carmen area with RCI for several months, and the only thing that pulls up (3 times so far) is this resort. Don't know if that is a good sign or if it's just because it's fairly new and has many condo's available. RCI states that the resort is not all-inclusive. Does anyone know how the restaurants are, how many, how's the food and what kind of pricing? The resort is further out from Play del Carmen than I had wanted, what kind of taxi charges should I expect if I want to go into town? Lastly, what is the charge in American money to take the bus from the airport to the resort? Lots of questions........your help/advice is welcome! Sincerely, Wisconsin Snowbird (dying for a vacation) |

Dear Snowbird from Wisconsin,
Right on this very forum you can find a welth of information about Mayan Palace and answer to all your questions. Just Search for Mayan Palace (all words) and you will see lots of threads including trip reports, restaurants descriptions, transportation info etc. Most of them posted in March-July but not much has changed since. There are two restaurants with good food but on the pricey side. Theoretically the Rivera bus is non stop from the airport to Playa del Carmen but when we travelled in August they did not have a problem to make a stop at Mayan Palace (we still paid the full fare for the trip to PDC which is 65 pesos - about $7 US). If traveling alone you may also arrange with the concierge at Mayan Palace to pick you up from the Cancun airport for $15 US (per person) - contact them by sending email to conciergerm@mayanpalace.com.mx Taxi to/from Playa is typically 170 pesos, therefore we preferred to use a bus (Mayab line) for 8-12 pesos or a collectivo for 10 pesos (I have never paid more but have been asked as much as 40 pesos per person). If you have any more specific questions or have a problem searching the forums, just send me an email directly. Working Stiff  from Hamilton, Ontario Andrew |
