First night?

After checking out this site I feel like I made a mistake doing the AI, but I'll probably drink enough to pay for it anyway! Once I'm there a few days I'm sure I'll figure out what I like. What would you guys suggest for the first night to get the inagural trip to Playa started off right! I'm not much for sticking to the resort, so I'm open for any ideas!

First place we are going when we get back is to El Oasis for Shrimp Tacos...been craving them since we got home...have tried but can not recreate that great taste

That would be our second stop!

As soon as our bags are safely under the care of Hotel Playa Maya and we have had the all-important first adult beverage with our toes in the sand under the palapa...

Our second meal will be trying the famous Playa Maya Coconut Shrimp we have heard so much about...with that adult beverage and toes in the sand... so we can smack high fives as we pass on the street.

Take a slow walk down 5th and stop in every bar you can see. This oughta get ya 1/3 of the way before you wont be able to walk anymore. Then the next day start off from where you left off the night before.

I would start at the South Pier and walk the beach to the North Pier and stop at the places that you thought you might like or looked interesting or had music that you liked...Look for drink specials and enjoy....Then do what jx2 suggested on the second night...

The Coconut Shrimp are absolutely awesome! But, since we'll be there for 2 weeks, we'll have lots of opportunities to devour them...

We have learned from past experience that getting our butts up and out of Playa Maya gets harder as the time passes, so other 'must do' places must get early preference or they won't happen!

You will learn this...

And we look forward to maybe sitting down with you two and ordering up a platter of Coconut Shrimp and a bucket of beer with our toes in the sand, if the Peep Fest duties leave us any spare time!

It's so much fun to walk down 5th for the first time (after being here in the Forum) and hear yourself saying, "Oh, yeah!! There's the Tequila Barrel!! Oh.... and there's Bourbon Street!! Oh... and there's Calle 10th .. let's go check out the Beer Barrel!! Oh, no... first we've got to go one more block to Calle 12 to get our Shrimp Tacos at El Oasis!!"

Our first meal has been and always will be the Shrimp Tacos and a couple of cold cervezas or margaritas at El Oasis. No doubt!!

We will make the time to sit down and order a couple of buckets of beer...don't think there is going to be a lot of sleeping on this trip.

yumm..Banzoomba, I could just eat them up right now! Lookin' good.

Our first night would usually be much the same, walking fifth, Tequilla Barrel, Beer Bucket, a walk to the beach even though it's dark by the time we get there, if only to hear the water and feel the sand in our feet. But now you've got me thinking how this may change, as since our last trip and our extended stay we now have friends there that we miss dearly and can't wait to see again. So as soon as we land we're going to want to see them again and the friends will take precedence over the tacos, me thinks!

Not sure, I am hoping to go to Peep Fest, but it depends on a lot of different factors. I'm in the 'we'll see' stage.
