Is Xpu Ha worth the wait???

I had a trip booked to Xpu Ha Palace the week of Oct. 9. My travel agent called today with the news about it being closed until Nov. 1. She offered Gala Playacar as an alternative resort...she said it sustained no damage.

My question is this, how do these two resorts compare? Has anyone been to both? I have two boys ages 12 & 14. My husband and I chose XPu Ha because of all the activities they could do (i.e., snorkeling, kayaking etc...).

I see that Playacar offers the same activities, but it also offers a lot of activities geared towards smaller children(puppet theatres etc...) I don't want to sound snobby, but we don't want to go somewhere that's full of toddlers...those days for us are over.

I would really appreciate information to help us decide if we should postpone our Xpu Ha trip until December, or go ahead with an October trip to Playacar. Also, what is the weather/temperature like in December???
