El Doradao Royale - Rooms

Hello All...

My wife and I are heading down to EDR on Oct 2nd.

We are booked into a Oceanview room. My question is:

Do all the rooms have jacuzzi's??

Is there a big difference between the Oceanview and Oceanfront???

Do they try to up-sell you to a higher catagory room when you get to EDR??

Cheers
Rob.

Yes!

Ocean view means you can "see" the ocean from your room and there could be obstructions such as palm trees in the way. Oceanfront means you are likely to step out the door onto the sand and/or have an unobstructed view of the ocean.

Not to my knowledge. I've always known the guests to ask for upgrades, not the other way around.

Here is a link to the Karisma web site in case you haven't seen it:

Rob if you ask they will try to upgrade you , but usually at a cost, They usually do have casitas available , but they are costly. The best rate they offered us and they did call us back in our room later thay evening was $50 extra per night for the upgrade. Enjoy , we arrive for our 3rd straight year in Feb.
We did get an upgrade last year to an oceanview for free, because of a room mixup.
The meals are fabulous.
The Kampai is by far the best restaurant on site.
All the rooms have Jacuzzis

SHammy, not Sammy...Sammy used to be here but caused trouble so I don't want THAT mix up to happen again!

And yes, I have had people upgraded at NO cost, they were honeymooners. It was a slow time of year and I guess the hotel was not full...so they asked for an upgrade, brought their marriage license to prove they were honeymooners and received an oceanfront as opposed to ocean view room. I highly doubt they'd every upgrade anyone to a casita without a charge though....there's too big of a difference between the prices, as Tonys said, casitas ARE costly (and in demand)!

my fave was the Italian one. we didn't try the mexican (being as we live in texas .... we like the tex-mex style of food here at home), plus we were only there for 4 nights, and one of those nights we went to PDC to a peep meet!!! also loved the asian place. don't know if you read my trip report already or not, but you'll find more info on that thread. i'd insert a link to it here, but i don't know how ............
