Ibero* hopping
We will be at the Tucan this November . This will be our third time at the Tucan and we just love this place!! I would like to try out some of the other Ibero*'s for the day however. Has anyone done this? I know the Maya is not an option but what about the other three? Do you get a pass at the Tucan desk or at the resort you visit? As much as I love the Tucan, it does fall short in the pool/swim up bar catagory (IMOH) I prefer the swim up bar in the main pool like at the Barcelo and the Palace. It seems a bit more social and fun this way. Which of the other three Ibero*'s has the better pool set up?
Any ideas out there?

visiting
when we've stayed at the del mar we have visited the tucan. ate, swam, looked around it was a fun change for the day. we took the shuttle from the del mar to the aviar, from there a $4 cab ride. i bet you could work this in reverse. they never really checked our wrist band because they only went to the paraiso complex. you could probably catch a cab to the pick-up point, hop the shuttle for free, then take the shuttle back. be sure to stop at the front desk and get your day wristband.i think you would love the pool at IBP. you'll have to check the schedule for the shuttle or might have an hour wait.

We visited the Tucan during our stay at the Maya in May. It was easy. I was told on a board that I'd need a pass from the Maya, but when I asked at the front desk, they said I didn't need one. They told me just to check in with the Tucan front desk, and take a driver's license to use as a towel deposit.
We took the shuttle to the dropoff point-- now the parking lot across from Plaza Antigua, not the aviary any more. We walked to the Tucan (1.25 miles) and cabbed back to the shuttle ($4). I think rugger is right, you could easily get on the Iberobus shuttle and save a $20 cab fare each way. We flashed our wristbands at the Tucan guard and walked right in. There was a line at the front desk, so we went exploring. We went ahead and had lunch and went in the ocean, then the pool. We had a towel with us, so we didn't need one. We never did end up checking in! We talked to a woman who did check in, and they gave her a Tucan wristband. But we had no trouble getting served with our Maya wristbands. Right, the Maya/Lindo pools and bars and restaurants are not an option for Tucan/Quetzal and Del Mar/Beach guests. You might enjoy walking around the grounds, though. You will definitely enjoy the Del Mar/Beach main pool and swim up bar. The pool is incredible. Have fun! |

Loved the Del Mar pool...this would be well worth taking the time to visit the resort/ resorts. Everyday we found something new between the four resorts. When we were there in Feb the bus picked up at the avary on the half hour. I presume it is the same for there new drop off/ pick up point.
