Royal Porto Real ?s
Hi all, I'm new here, actually been a lurker for a while. Got lots of good info, I think this is the best board for info about Playa. But now I have a few questions. My husband and I will be staying at the Royal Porto Real form 15 Sep - 2 Oct and I read on someone's report on TripAdvisor that there is a coffeemaker in the room, is this true? I know this doesn't sound all that important but I like my coffee in the morning without getting dressed and going out. Is there a minibar in the room, their website doesn't mention one. Also, there was some mention of construction going on, is this at the resort itself?
We picked the Royal because we like the idea of AI (except for the bracelets), but wanted to be in town. We've stayed in Playacar at the RUI and Iberostars and at the Lindo before, but we never spent that much time in PDC, so this time we would like to check it out along with some of the restuarants and bars mentioned here. Anyway, thanks to anyone who has some info. |

Yep - there's a coffe maker (and if for some reason you don't have one just ask). There was construction last Feb. at the Royal , but hopefully it's done. Someone surely can give you a more recent update on that. We loved the place. |

It was on the end (beachside) of the horseshoe. Oh, and there is a min-fridge in the room they'll stock with beer, bottled water and soda. |

We are travelling to Playa the 3rd week of August & are booked at the Gran
Porto Real, but will have access to all ammenities of the Royal. We are curious to know what kind of alcohol they provide, high end or "rock gut"? How about Miller Lite Beer????? Quote:

Regarding the drinks; I didn't see any Miller Lite (but didn't ask), drank a lot of the Mexican beers (all good), and a lot of mixed slushy type drinks since it was so hot, and a lot of tequilla slammers. I don't recall any high-end stuff, but there wasn nothing terrible either. If you don't like something, just order another (assuming you're going AI). All that talk about watered down drinks is nonsense too (if you're AI anyway). You can ask them for a bowl of gin if you wish !! We had a blast there - been twice now, and planning to go again next Feb. As many said on this board - go in with a good attitude, and you'll have fun ! The location to 5th is awesome, and we ventured out to many different cafe's restaraunts even though we had the AI plan at the Reals. P.S. Please post a post-trip after your return regarding the recipricosity of the Gran Porto and Royal Portos. Gran could use the Royal amenities while we were there, but we're being told now that the Gran will NOT be allowed to use the Royal in the future. |

I Am Traveling To The Gran Porto Real In A Couple Of Weeks And I've Heard The Hurricane Destroyed Lots Of Places. Does Anyone Know If The Hotel I'm Staying At Is Okay Or Maybe At Least The Area? I'd Appreciate Any Help I Can Get! Thx!

That's one of the reasons we booked the Royal. We'd like to check out restaurants and bars in town and figured we stay there. |
