Got some new photos today of the completed loo and the beginning of the stairs to the upstairs. Had to have the steps as we have a black lab that is a big baby and if he couldn't get upstairs to sleep with "mommy" at night, he likely would have moaned and cried all night long. 1st a few shots of the finished bathroom.

Closer shot of the doors

and the handles

The view back to the main house with little garden Lynn and Mary planted

And the work to date on the steps

This is probably the final post before we go down in January unless Lynn or someone else has pictures to share of their home building progress at Sacbe. Bathroom is done and stairs and so is the money. Nehemias and his partner will be moving on to Cam's place where Bill B. is living to build a humidal for him- that is the above ground sewage treatment thingy with plants. Maybe he'll post some photos of that work.
Anyway, below is a group shot of our friends when work was done-Mary, Nehemias, Nehemias' helper (Lynn help me here), Lynn and Antonia at the bottom. Lynn, Mary and Antonia installed some garden plantings around things with plants from Antonia's garden.
A couple of views of the new steps- our crybaby Lab will be so happy that he'll be able to get upstairs to sleep with Mommy.

A final shot of the current state of the main house with newly added plantings. Thanks Lynn, Mary and and Antonia!

And last a really nice shot Lynn took from the top of the steps looking back at the loo.

I'm very proud of the work Nehemias and the gang have done over the past few months; they worked very hard, every detail was done by hand and with a LOT of love!

The personal time and plants that Tonita, Mary and Irene donated to FlowerBill's project proves that community really does exist here in SacBe...it had absolutely nothing to do with the beer Nehemias promised them if they'd help him out!

Nehemias and Juan (there ya go FlowerBill!) will be starting on Bill Barton's personal project next week; they'll begin with his humidal and later his loo, etc.

Bill just bought a new, fancy, dancey digital camera so I'm sure he'll be posting some quality photos...not like the amateur ones from me!!

Thanks for giving us the opportunity to work on your project FlowerBill and Jackie...we're honored that you trusted us from so far away!

We're counting the days until you and your babies arrive!

Lynn

We got to Sacbe after a long tiring drive down. The house and bathroom look better than the photos. Poco a poco getting things fixed and working. Gas fridge is up and running and the sink drain is in. Need to hook up water supply to the kitchen sink and get a shower running next. I'll post photos when I get a chance.

I've started posting progress reports on the Merida Insider, the Information Source for Merida, Yucatan website if anyone is interested. Lots of photos of the past months activities. I'm just to lazy to post in both places and there seems to be more interest over there. To see them you must create a user name and password. Then go to forums, "The rest of Mexico", and the thread "Our home in Pueblo Sacbe".

Bill,
thank you so much for taking the time to post on the progress of your building project. It really turned out nice, and what you're doing there, is what Pueblo Sacbe is all about. Way to go.

Took a few and downloaded them to show progress. Kitchen is done except for cabinet doors- see below

And progress on the guest room is going well. Downstairs walls are started now. Here's a shot of the addition a few days back.

Here's a shot of the dogs and the patio we have upstairs now.

Periodically we have a little get together with the neighbors and the guys working on the house. Try to corrupt them a little with our northern ways. Here's what the Mayan version of "beer pong" looks like.

Poor Federico was on his son's team and his son is to young to drink so Federico had to drink all the beer for his team.

Finally, here's a shot of my fat weener sleeping on one of the warmer recent days.

We're back in Md now but construction on the guest room addition continues, Lynn sent some photos recently and things look outstanding. We decided to use bottles in the walls for decoration. From the looks of all the different bottles, I'd say there's been a bit of drinking going on.
Here's one of the inside of the sitting room with Mary and Nemo buffing off excess concrete.

The bottles are great when the light comes through.

And here's a shot of where the back door will be

and last here's one of "Momma de Dog" chillin' upstairs while overseeing construction.

You don't know the half of it FB!

Sometimes we're so snoggered we forget to empty the bottle before we cement it into the wall and then we're forced to use some ingenuity to get that stuff outta there! This was a loverly tequila liquor called Aguavero...nummy, and the bottles' a nice color too!

Got a couple photos of the addition that is basically complete. Still need a railing in the covered porch upstairs and a final finish coat of cement on the upstairs floor, but the moneys gone for now. We'll get to it eventually. Also have a simple 12 volt power system that is working well now to run flourescent lights and 12 volt fans and radio/cd player.

Here's the main house and the connection to the addition.

and the new addition.
