Specific Royal HideawayQuestion

I have been to lots of other resorts in the Caribbean and Mexico and lounge chairs by the pool or beach are always an issue. In some places I have gotten up at 6am to reserve chairs for us by the pool. In some places there are more than enough without being crowded (ideal).

We are going to Royal Hideaway in January with another couple, in your experience, what's the lounge chair situation by the pools? on the beach? Did you find that there was a problem with having enough space for all the guests? Is everyone on top of each other or pretty spread out? What's the story?

Sorry if this is a silly question. . .

Thanks in advance for your help!

Both times I visited RH all the poolside chairs are reserved early. While RH has a "policy" saying people can't do this, it is not enforced at all. There was however no problem getting beach chairs.

The poolside chairs are padded and more comfortable that the beach chairs, but I'm all about the beach when I go to the beach, so I put up with those torture loungers every resort in Mexico seems to have.

RH has several relaxation pools that almost always have available padded chairs. They however are not by the beach and don't get drink service (although you might be able to call room service and get them to deliver food and drinks to you by the relaxation pools - I'm not sure, I never tried).

They also have 4 or 5 "beach beds", these queen size beds with curtains and I hear you have to get up quite early to reserve one of those.

So, it kind of depends on where you want to spend the day whether you have to get up early to reserve anything.

Actran -- I agree with everything you have said -- You can get drink service at the relaxation pools if you say the right things to the staff at the bar by the beach -- They were most acommondating to us.

Just returned from RH last week. Had a FANTASTIC time.

Ditto everything in the previous posts. However, Getting drinks by the relaxation pools is VERY difficult. I guess if the resort is not very crowded and you spread a few bucks around, you might have a chance. But I would not hold my breath. We had bacically no luck in that department.

Chairs by the 2 main pools seem to get Reserved very early. Chairs are generally available on the beach and by the relaxation pools. Umbrellas are a real challange. There are not that many of them. However, they may not be as big a deal in January as they were in August.

It seemed that Sometime around 3:30PM, chairs (and yes even umbrellas) start to open up.

NOTE: This is the same at every resort that we have ever been to. Those of us that like to stay up late and sleep late seem to pay the price when it comes to chairs during the day. Dont let it put a damper on what Im sure will be a great trip to RH.
