Ann Arbor area Mexican Restaurants
In Ann Arbor, Michigan we have recently been blessed with a plethora of new mexican restaurants opening...
One of the oldest and best in the area is La Fiesta Mexicana...on Cross street near the Eastern Michigan University Campus...they hail from Michoacan and serve some great carne asada and were the first local restuarant to use chihuahua cheese...one of my all time favorites.
A newer one, but excellent as well is Senior Lopez on Stadium, They come from the Yucatan, I believe the Merida area and serve some kick ass Conchinita Pibil...the finest I have tasted outside of mexico proper and frankly would hold its own anywhere...along with the usual standards.
In Adrian, a little south west of Ann Arbor is a restaurant called La Chopolata...(I think that is how it is spelled...means "grashopper") Adrian is and has been for many years a local migrant laborer community with a significant Mexican population and for a long time it was THE place to go to get authentic Mexican food...still very good with rockin' margaritas...
there are a few others but these three are the best, in my subjective opinion.
