They may be having issues with the water entry area, and the beach is quite a bit smaller than it was after the replenishment (a lot smaller in some spots!), but saying there's no beach for their guests is a bit of an overstatement (it scares people booked there to read that). There
are places for guests to sit, play volleyball, etc.
You can see the sandbags at the water's edge in the photo below. Protection yes, but another reason for this is so guests can get into the ocean, without a drop off. The sandbags act like steps.
That pier is a big issue, it affects the currents and basically takes the sand back off the beach.
