Need to make a lot of margaritas - help
I am having a margarita party at my place Friday night (anyone want to come?) and I want to provide shaken margaritas to everyone. The only problem is that I have never made a shaken margarita before, much less a pitcher of margaritas.
I have found lots of recipes for making one shaken margarita but there will be close to 20 people there. I have a pitcher, but I am not sure what is the best way to prepare a pitcher of margaritas so that is tastes ok. Does anyone have any ideas? I haven't even figured out exactly how much tequila I will need yet. |

As far as shaken, I don't know if you already have a certain recipe, or still looking, but I have a Mexican Martini recipe that I got from the bartender that works a mexican food joint. They are very popular down here. Shaker filled with ice: 2 part tequila (works with Patron, don't use any GC or high-grade stuff) 1 part Cointreau (or Gran M.) splash of fresh OJ splash of fresh lime juice then fill rest of way with good margarita mix.(sweet/sour mix) Shake, then pour into salt rimmed glasses w/a few olives skewwered on a toothpick. And a good bartender tests every drink, so if you have several batches, check each one. Just to make sure!! Good luck |

Thanks! I don't have a certain recipe in mind yet. As good hosts, we are going to make some tomorrow night and try out a variety of recipes.
I am taking Friday off work so I will probably go the route you suggested and batch it out. I won't put any ice in the pitcher like you said so it doesn't get watered down. After everyone has had a couple, I am sure they will all be less picky anyway. ![]() |

Tequila, triple sec, frozen limeaid (undiluted), ice, to taste. These are kind of knock-you- naked margaritas, in this case you use ice, which dilutes the limeaid as it melts. This recipe is from a friend. Keep in mind, she once cracked a plastic pitcher with this!
You may want to add water. Hmmm, I'm kinda wondering how some sparking water would work.... Have fun testing! |

NOT - that I have experience in this area, but...
What I underastand you're wanting is a LARGE amount of margaritias, good quality & maintain low cost (ok, so I've tended bar ...) Get a CLEAN 5 gallon bucket. frozen limeade - 12 oz ? tequila triple-sec ice fresh limes (Rose's Lime is good also) Fill bucket 1/2+ full of ice, add frozen limeade. Usually you make your limeade 4 +"cans" of water - instead split 2 cans water or lemon-lime soda & 2 cans tequila. Stir while mixing. Once the bucket is almost full - add triple-sec. If your freezer is large enough, place the bucket in the freezer the night before the party. Since the alcohol will not freeze, it should be "slushy". Slice the limes as garnish... LndShrk |

HI!
Here is my Cadillac Margy: 4 parts lemon-lime juice (squeeze 2 fresh lemon & 2 fresh regular lime =4 oz and add 1 tablespoon sugar or equal per ounce--or use frozen, defrosted undiluted lemon-lime juice) 4 parts clear tequila (clear, like Patron or JC Classico) 2 parts Triple Sec 2 parts Gran Marnier ice cubes Mix all together and put in a shaker (or just stir well). Pour over the ice. Use the same measurement unit (i.e. a cup or glass, etc... throughout) or example, if you use a cup as the unit, then the recipe will be: 4 cups lemon-lime juice 4 cups tequila 2 cups triple sec 2 cups gran marnier If you like weaker margys, then cut the tequila, TS and GM each by 1 part (4:3:1:1) If you want other flavors, just change the type of juice (strawberry, raspberry, mango, peach, etc...you can use the 'fruit nectars' sold in stores or get the fresh fruit--toss into a blender with a little water or lemon-lime juice and blend it up fresh) Whichever you choose--Have a great time & stay safe! -B |

hmmmmmmmm, usually make it by the glass or small pitcher, and I'm not sure if Ruby Red grapefruit juice is available up there, but here's my Rio Grande Rita. Something a little different, more of a warped Sunrise, but I like the name and it doesn't give me the heartburn troubles that I get with excessive lime margarita consumption
3 parts grapefruit juice 1 part orange juice 1/2 part Tequila (approximate only, adjust to taste... I like it strong) 1/4 part Cointreau or similar narange (maybe a little less of this ingredient, too much makes for a very bad Rits) 1 squeezed lime slice to top the glass off |

My "famous" concoction makes a shakerful (about 4 or 5 drinks if poured over margarita glasses full of crushed ice /small cubes- just multiply):
4 shots+ good tequila (I'm partial to Cazadores or Herradura reposado or El Tesoro for mine) 2 shots Grand Marnier or Cointreau (the latter goes best with a lighter tasting tequila) 1 shot triple sec 1 shot Rose's lime juice 1/3-1/2 shot Key West Lime juice or the juice of maybe 1 1/2 limes or 3 key limes 3 shots Daileys Margarita mix (if not available use more Rose's) Tried and true, and potent. |

Ahh... nothing like the natural, simple stuff.
I was hired to bartend a party and had to make gallons of ritas from scratch. Of course I had to try each bach and let me tell ya... they were delicious!Although it wasn't very practical doing it that way, had no margarita mix, simple tequila, triple sec, natural lime juice and liquid sweetener, which pretty easy to get in Playa. Anyways, I guess as everyone has told you, the best you can do is keep adding whatever you need to. |

Wonderful ideas! Not sure if I can get some of those ingredients here in Halifax but I will look around today on my shopping trip. Made a basic one last night which was ok but could be better.
I will let you know how it goes. The only thing I can guarantee is that almost all of us will be really drunk tonight and that is really all that matters in the end anyway! ![]() |
