This is especially true when one is a member of an online community, because good intentions are so easily taken out of context simply because another member interprets our post differently than we'd originally intended. Being a multicultural forum, like Playa.Info, makes it even more of a challenge and means that we need to try to be a little more cognizant of how we express ourselves so as not to unknowingly offend members from other countries. I think as a whole the members of the Playa.Info community do a good job of communicating and trying to understand and learn from one another. That can only serve to make this a better community and our small part of the world a better place.

Geez, denisea: very well put IMO!
You could use that quote from now on, if you please, previous to locking down other future threads (if necessary, of course).

I hate it when that happens... then the next morning I think "oh $#&%, I know I posted something, what the hell was was it?!?" and rush into the office to try to figure out what thread I posted to. :p

Fun times...

Mark, I have always found your posts witty, amusing and helpful. Also being that you are living in Playa I believe that you are an important addition to this board.

I can agree that the General forum was probably not the appropriate place for the discussion that was going on, and perhaps not even for the original topic. Most posts to that forum concern people vacationing there, etc. and perhaps talk of the ails of those living there is not an appropriate venue. But perhaps the answer instead of locking it would be to move it to a more appropriate forum, like Off-Topic.

Although, I missed out on the very last part and if it degraded into personal attacks and he-said-she-said, I can see why it would need to be locked.

Anyway, that's just my dos pesos, FWIW.

I didn't really notice any BLATANT personal attacks, but Michael is right that is was kinda like flogging the horse that had already been flogged many times and at that point it just wasn't worth flogging anymore..... at least here wasn't any liberal/conservative bashing and Roni throwing in his creative words
