Brian will be psyched to see all of these good wishes (thanks, Nerak
). We just came back from a whirlwind weekend down at Martha's Vineyard and Cape Cod and he already ran off to the orchard to check on things (I'm going to check in at work too but I'm not in too much of a hurry- first things first!)...Friday we had dinner in Memensha Harbor on the Vineyard with my brother, who shares a birthday with Brian, and his wife, then sat around drinking Dark & Stormys (which would be a trend for the rest of the weekend) on their deck. The next morning we humored my brother with a sail around Vineyard Haven Harbor- Brian much prefers motor boats as my brother has been known to make Brian work his fingers raw when sailing, and there have been a few, hum, mishaps over the years, shall we say. After a beer and quick lunch at the Offshore Ale Co. in Oak Bluffs we took the ferry to the mainland and headed down the cape to Wellfleet. After a dinner of fried clams and Wellfleet oysters at Mac's Seafood at the harbor we headed over to the Beachcomber to see one of our favorite bands, the Iguanas, from New Orleans. They were as awesome as usual, and I bet they were glad to be playing up here although I'm sure they were all concerned with their families at home in Louisiana. Yesterday was a beautiful beach day and that's where we sent most of the day, followed by the raw bar happy hour at Clem & Ursie's in Provincetown- another of our favorites. Headed back to Wellleet to change and hit the Beachcomber yet again for their famous Sunday late day party with the Incredible Casuals, a Cape Cod institution who have played Sundays at the 'Coma for over 25 years. Dinner afterwards at the Duck Creek Tavern- Cod & Peas, incredible, with another Dark & Stormy and we headed back to the hotel to crash. It was definitely a jam-packed birthday weekend for our dear fruitfly. |
