Please bear with me while I make my emotional Sox-fan rant...I know they can still make it to the playoffs, but it galls me to know they could/should be ahead by three or four games at this stage, and it's annoying to see them back into the playoffs with the wild-card spot (if they even get that...they need some help from Cleveland to get there.) So, by the end of today, it's possible that baseball may be over in Boston. <sigh> I love my Sox, but they make me sad sometimes. OK OK, I know that we're so lucky to even still be in contention--so many teams have been out of it for so long. I guess it's the conditioning from so many decades of being a Sox fan. We always seem to expect the worst from them. (Last season notwithstanding!) OK then, the rant is over now! GO SOX!!! GO PATS!!! Rubio--have fun at the Ravens game!!! |

This morning the local news (Ch. 5) said something along the lines of, "For those of you who, like us, are confused as to what needs to happen now for the Sox....", they displayed the situation as: 1) If the Sox win today and Cleveland loses , then the Sox have the Wild Card. 2) If the Sox lose and Cleveland wins , then Cleveland has the Wild Card. 3) But if the Sox lose and Cleveland loses , then Sox/Cleveland have a playoff game tomorrow at Fenway to determine who gets the Wild Card.So the way I look at it, we still have a 2 out of 3 chance to stay in it by the end of today. (I try keep a "glass half full" attitude.....) Hang in there, Eileen!!!!! ![]() |

We'll definitely balance each other today Karen! You'll be the half-full glass, and I'll be the gloomy half-empty one! With the Sox, I usually find it better to expect the worst, and then feel overjoyed when the good things happen. Immature, huh? It's self-preservation from many years of heartbreaking losses...Thank god for Tom Brady and Adam Vinatieri! I'll check back later--got lots of cleaning to do before the crowd arrives. |

Nerak..
They had it a bit wrong actually.... If Boston wins they're in as the Wild Card no matter what Cleveland does..If the Sox and Indians both lose the sox are in...If the Sox lose and Cleveland wins there will be a 1 game playoff on Monday for the Wild Card spot - that game would be played in Boston. |

Anyway, looks like that makes it better than a two out of three chance for the Sox to make it as the Wildcard...yay!! (Uh-oh...I'm sounding a little too cheerful...never mind) |

CHANGE OF PLACE FOR PEEP MEET Okay.... my pulse and blood pressure have subsided enough that I can type again..... Just got off the phone with Joe's American Bar & Grill who informed me that they CANNOT reserve for 15 people for next Sunday at 3 PM. They could do 11 AM or later in the evening, but a definite "sorry, can't do it" for 3 PM. So.... Plan B = The Sail Loft. The Sail Loft is about 2-3 doors down from Joe's. It's where we've had two Boston Peep Meets in the past (last January and April), and since no one perished from those Meets, I can assume it was a success. It's not as fancy a place as Joe's, but it's on the pier, has a good wait staff (but isn't that always a shot-in-the-dark), drinks were drinkable, and food was edible. Actually, their seafood is pretty good, and they're known for having awesome chow-dah!! ![]() A shot from last January's Peep Meet with Softy/Stogey and Caramba/Fruitfly: ![]() A shot from Ames Plow over in Faneuil Hall where we went after the Sail Loft: ![]() A shot from last April's Peep Meet with Caramba/Fruitfly and Flugie: ![]() I'm sorry to disappoint anyone who had their heart set on Joe's..... ![]() Please!!!!!!!!!! Everyone who's planning on being there, please check in to let me know you've seen this change of venue for our day! (except for Rubio and Zoomba who will probably go anywhere I drag their butts to that day) I'm sure we'll all end up over in Fanueil Hall at some bar after the Sail Loft. When that happens is dependent on when the Sail Loft kicks us out for rowdy behavior!! |

Karen this place looks cool...right on the waterfront...don't need nothing fancy it's all about who you are with not where you are at....Zoom says the back corner booth at McD's is fine with him.
Faneuil Hall looks like a neat bar too. And yes we are at your mercy and will go wherever you drag us too. One week from today we will be there....whooo hooo. Now I am getting ready to go to the Ravens game...late game today...4:15 start...but the weather is just great for a ball game. ............................. |

There's nothing like quite having to maybe disappoint peeps when it comes to the venue for a Peep Meet. But I agree..... it's not where you're at, it's who you're with. And I KNOW we're gonna have such a good time!!!!! I am SOOOO looking forward to meeting you guys! And Rubio.... Faneuil Hall isn't a bar; it's a building (which we won't be in). But "Faneuil Hall" is also referred to as the area. The bar that we went to in January is called "Ames Plow" which is in the Faneuil Hall area. Faneuil Hall is actually the building where new citizens take their vow (my sister-in-law became a citizen there a few years ago), and where the seeds of the American Revolution took place - sort of a pep rally spot (i.e. meetings, speeches, etc.). LOTS of USA history 'round there!! The Sail Loft and Ames Plow are kind of "traditional" spots that David and I visit when we do our trips to Boston. Hopin' you guys enjoy them as much as we do!! |
